“Pub Tour Sussex”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

This is the the best pub in Sussex. Firstly the beer is superb, probably as it is next door to the brewery. Well the Harvey's Best is superb, never felt inclined to try anything else. The place is always busy with a great clientele. The Ham Egg & Chips is the best I have had and I cannot see how it can be beaten. The thick cut ham, the just runny eggs or the thick cut chips, it is all perfect. I could quite easily stay there all day. I love all the staff too.

“First class pub lunch.”
Reviewed 24 October 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this little tavern quite by chance and what a good find it was. Excellent, traditional pub food, with lots of choice, good service from pleasant, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Really can't ask for better and we look forward to returning.

“Good beer but very disappointing lunch”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

We met four friends here recently on a Sunday as we had heard that the beer was good - which it was - but the food was awful! It's not difficult to put together a really quality Ploughmans lunch but this one was very, very ordinary. The french bread was under-cooked and stodgy (inedible really), what's wrong with a hunk of proper stone-baked country bread? Similarly, the cheese was plonked on the plate cold, just out of the fridge in a big uninteresting lump, there was a pile of silverskin onions (when did they appear on a Ploughmans?) and a pathetic little pile of Iceberg lettuce with a drizzle of v ordinary dressing. Come on John Harvey, you can do better than that! A few very small and easy changes would make the world of difference.

“Nice pub lunch”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

We have visited this pub many times for evening drinks and lunch time meals. Our latest visit was for a very nice lunch on Saturday, with friends visiting from Canada.

The pub is very relaxed and the staff have always been very friendly.
