“Nice gardens spoiled by over-management”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Southover Grange gardens are very attractive, but in recent years have moved away from being a park that was great for everyone to enjoy, to being very much focused on the 'gardens' aspect. At times it can resemble a theme park devoted to fences. If you want to come and sit here and drink tea while admiring the planting, it's fine, although it has a curious mix of garden styles, from the very attractive knot garden to the frankly naff raised bed of heathers and rose garden. If you're a kid wanting to run around and explore, climb a tree, or kick a ball around, all those things you should be doing rather than sitting at home with a games console, you're out of luck, as some heavy-handed council employee will come and tell you off.

“Must visit”

Beautifully cared for gardens, attractively laid out in front of a very historic house. Lovely to sit on the benches with tea and scones from the summer café in the wall, and bask in the sun.

“Paradise Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

A historic building, trees, flowers, lawns, and a winter bourne flowing stream plus a window that serves drinks and food to eat in the open air. Add to this a fine gallery displaying local craft work from tapestry to glass work, Who could ask for more? An easy walk from the station and a pleasant short cut if you are visiting Anne of Cleves House - but that's a different story!

“A hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

I adore the grange. It is beautiful, big , different areas to picnic , play with children, sunbath, do work .. get married! What a peaceful place . There is a cafe for refreshments. I would give it 5* but the toilets are grotty and dirty which is a shame.
