“Loses a star...”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Having been previously and scoring 5 stars, we arrived on Mothers Day 2014 to find they've stopped doing their excellent roasts and the pig racing is done. The food's still OK, but a pretty bog standard menu and nothing to write home about. My wife was particularly miffed at the lack of a roast...

As usual, the staff are keen (if not occasionally a little haphazard), and the facilities quite reasonable (again I was encouraged to go on the drop-slide at 58, so that's a rare experience duplicated) but I'm afraid what was once excellent is now just plain 'good'. Still knocks spots off Blackberry Farm though.

Dear Martin,

Great to see you have reviewed us again, gutted that we have lost a star this time round! Had to stop doing Sunday Roasts as although they had a keen following (including your lovely wife!), we had too many people who preferred our regular menu on a Sunday thus making it a bit of a negative for the business, we were a bit sad too, as we do love a good roast too!

Never to old for a go on the dropslide, staff evenings round in the play barn playing testimony to that! Hope to see you soon,

Mike and Louise

“Must have gone on the wrong day!”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Was quite excited to take my 90year old Mother-in-law. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. I knew it was a small farm aimed at children but thought it would be a good morning out to see the new spring lambs.......saw two sheep with a lamb each in the barn but that was all! Did we go on the wrong day? The restaurant was ok.....lovely flapjack!

Dear Julie,

So glad to hear you were welcomed by our friendly staff, and enjoyed the homemade flapjack!

Lambing time is in full swing now, but can always be a bit unpredictable at the start! If you are keen to come back for another visit give us call, and we can let you know quieter times for a visit, but with lots of lambs! We also have baby chicks and rabbits now too, so Spring has finally sprung at Spring Barn Farm,

Our telephone number is 01273 488450 and ask for Louise
Best wishes

“Great for little ones”
Reviewed 29 October 2013 via mobile

Nice selection of animals that my one year old was able to get closer to than at most other farms. Nice little ride on area and the soft play for under fours was good. Farm shop was well supplied but a little pricey. Would have given five stars but for the unfriendly car park guy.

“Dreadful service”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

A friend and I went here for lunch and a catch up during her lunch-hour from work, so we only went to eat and visit the farm shop.

The restaurant /cafe was cosy but basic and we sat next to the wood burner. The service was dreadful! We tried to order at the desk and although the staff were lovely, we were told it was table service, we waited and waited and reminded them again (it was in our lunch-hour!!) and eventually we got served.

That said, the food was really lovely, hot, tasty and home cooked. Wasn't the cheapest lunch but quite reasonable for the standard of food.

The shop was deserted and we never saw any staff!! Usual farm shop stuff - nicely laid out but nothing special.

Would definitely return for lunch again.

“Lovely family day out”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Visited with my toddler nephew and adored this quaint animal farm. Not expensive, gorgeous animals, tasty treats in the farm shop, excellent play area and good cafe food. Worth a visit if you are in the area and the little one loved it.
