We were looking for a bed and breakfast near to Lewes as we were attending a day of singing there.
Old Timbers looked lovely on the web site and we were not disappointed.
We don't usually like duvets much but this bed was like sleeping in a warm fluffy cloud! Amazing!
We were made to feel at home nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
We opted for the cooked breakfast and it was lovely, all served on a platter so that you could help yourself to what you wanted.
I have read the other reviews and agree with them so will not repeat what has been said.
We shared a bathroom but it was no problem.
We had excellent wifi and my phone worked but my friend had a little trouble in her room.

Room Tip: They have one double and a twin which my friend used as she was on her own, they both have lovely vi...

Quintessential 'english' cottage in quiet village. Comfortable beds, very clean and attention to detail e.g. fresh milk for tea in the bedrooms. Not brilliant for wifi and also had trouble getting a signal on our mobile phones. We're not that keen to be connected all the time but it did make it tricky to phone one of our children who was away from us. But just as nice as the photos on the website suggest and if you are looking to 'get away' from it all, then this is an ideal place.

In response to this review we have now installed a signal booster and the WiFi reception is fine. Thank you for pointing out the weak signal in your room.

I've been stayed at this charming B&B on numerous occasions and have nothing but praise for what Helen and Peter offer. This is one of those 'finds' you are almost reluctant to recommend in case they become too busy!

This feels like a home away from home. Everything is spotless and little touches (hot water bottles) add to the feeling of care and attention. The food is delicious and the hosts make you feel welcome...they also have plenty of local knowledge on things to do.

If you are after a charming, characterful and comfortable stay then look no further. A real gem.

We had a wonderful stay here in August 2012, so we came back again on May 22, 2013, and it was better than ever. We again slept in the double room, and had the best night of our trip. The bed is so comfortable, and the room is so quiet - overlooking the garden. We really appreciated all the little extras - when I needed to borrow an iron (we were going to Glyndebourne too) it was produced immediately.
Helen and Peter are the most charming and accommodating hosts. When we eventually got ourselves out of bed in the morning they had an excellent breakfast all ready for us. They have a real focus on providing either home grown or local grown food, and the results are delicious.
After breakfast, at their recommendation, we explored a local wood which was covered in a blanket of bluebells - fabulous!
We will be going back again. C&T

We stayed here whilst attending a recent performance at Glyndebourne and had the most thoroughly wonderful visit. Helen and Peter made us feel very welcome and made our stay a real joy.

The double room is very comfortable and quiet, and everything which makes guests at home and relaxed has been thought of. It was a particular pleasure for us to stay in a building which has its roots in the 15thC, and is so lovingly cared for and enjoyed.

The Scandinavian breakfast is bountiful, with homemade preserves (try the rhubarb and ginger jam!) and delicious bread and freshly squeezed juice being real highlights.

We cannot recommend Helen and Peter's place too highly, and look forward to more return visits in the future.

Stayed here 10th to 12th May 2013. There are just two letting rooms, one single and one double and both were spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and added extras such as biscuits with the tea trays. You are really staying in somebody's house - the couple that own it were so friendly yet privacy is assured as their accommodation is separate from the guest rooms. There is a very decent bathroom for both rooms, with top-quality towels. Breakfast was brilliant, with locally produced and sourced products such as jams from those in the village, a range of teas and excellent breakfast coffee. The couple are obviously doing this because they like doing it. On arrival we were offered tea and on retiring, we were offered hot water bottles - nice touches and appreciated.
