“Made fathers day special”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

What a fabulous afternoon. Wonderful Roast lunches, Hog roast cooking, a pianist on his piano playing and singing in the garden, families, couples, dog walkers and children all happy and smiling. Wonderful service, friendly staff, lovely landlord, stunning country side and a great place to mess about on the river. Thank you for making Fathers day so special.

Unfriendly, unreasonable, rude staff. Foul smelling garden, toilets and chalet. Dirty, over priced accommodation. Massively disappointing. Children not welcomed. Will never return despite the beautiful countryside.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here in idyllic surroundings. The landlord and staff were charming, the views over the river and surrounding countryside unbeatable. We were entertained by people boating on the river and other local wildlife. We will definitely come again.

This is a lovely pub, right on the riverside, nice dining area with plenty of outside tables when the weather allows outside dining. The lane going to and from the pub is a bit tricky if you meet oncoming traffic as it is very narrow and passing places are few and far between but it is worth the trip down as we had a really good Sunday roast lunch, great value at £10.95 because the portion size was large especially the meat which was cooked perfectly, no mean feat when cooking for large quantities of people, usually I find pub roasts to be short on meat, but not here. Service was quite good too. Well worth the journey.

Went with my two children age 2 and 3. We were very rudely told that we could not feed our children with our own food (snacks) and were not welcome to do so in the grounds as picnics not allowed. The "landlord will go mad" . We promptly left'. Terrible

Today we are at The Anchor Inn in Barcombe, a pub we have heard of but never visited. The setting is wonderful, right up against the river Ouse, and you can hire boat to take you up stream! The food is typical pub grub done well at reasonable prices with a decent selection of beers and a vast selection of other drinks. Slight downside was just the one real ale on but since it was Harvey's and we were told as they get busier a guest ale would be available also. This was relayed to us by a very friendly chap at the bar who was very attentive to our needs even though they don't provide table service.
Just a very pleasant experience. Will return when the weather's a bit warmer.

Went for a lovely Sunday roast only to be told that they only did sandwiches for people that hadn't booked. Tried to order cheesy chips but the chef apparently didn't have cheddar cheese?! The sticky toffee pudding was disgusting and they got the order wrong...basically pub grub at its most basic.
