my wife and myself plus brother in law and sister in law stayed at the Newmarket Inn for a weekend while we attended a wedding in Lewes. The rooms are a good size and very clean and comfortable, we had the carvery when we arrived and it was very good. Breakfast was excellent , and the landlady aranged a taxi for us to get to the wedding on time [ road works in Lewes causing problems ] overall a great weekend and a great place to stay.

My son , daughter and I are looking to relocate to this area and chose this hotel as a base to view the area. This turned out to be an excellent choice both from cleanliness, value for money, ease of parking , location, and last but not least, the welcome which awaited us.

This business has quite recently been taken on by current team and although they are still having a few "teething problems", its quite apparent that they care about getting things right and are striving to do so. Nothing was a problem. I would most certainly stay there again and would heartily recommend others to do so.

Good-sized room that has been recently renovated but a bit dark (old inn with small windows). Very comfortable beds. Good-sized bathroom with bath and shower combination, but with a shower curtain (one ofmy pet hates). Everything was very clean and in good working order.
Very good breakfast with a good choice. Had the cavery for 5.75 per head in the evening. One of the best ever with very tender meat, lots of fresh and perfectly cooked veggies, all the accompaniments
Changed management 14 months ago so the dragon lady of the old reviews has gone. Replaced with a very nice lady and her son "handsome Dave". Both very friendly and helpful.
Huge car park. Directly next to a busy dual carriageway, so convenient for Brighton and Lewes. Rather noisy during the night but the secondary glazing keeps out most of the noise.

We stopped here on Wednesday for a carvery lunch on our way from Lewis. The beef looked like burnt leather so we opted for white meat and gammon. The white meat was so dry and tasteless that we didn't know whether it was chicken or pork. The gammon was reasonably cooked on the outside but almost raw in the middle. My husband had stomach pains all night. Until now, we had thought that we couldn't go far wrong with a carvery but the Newmarket Inn proved us wrong

Great hotel with clean & modern rooms. Greeted with a smile and a joke with all members of staff, made to feel very welcome! Perfect full english for breakfast as well!

About a £20 taxi ride from Brighton but worth it because the hotel is great value with free parking with no minimum nights stay!

Lewes is worth a visit as well, and you can get a train from Lewes to Brighton for only £3 return.

Would definately recommend!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back away from the main roa.

We looked for rooms in Brighton for more than twice the price plus parking. We paid £60 including a full english breakfast. Staff (family run business) we friendly and helpful. Room was clean if a tad small but no problem for a one nighter. We were facing the main road and l like my window open so if your easily disturbed by traffic it might be a problem, it wasnt for me.The only iffy bit was a bit of mold around the window, nothing major, i think its the secondary glazing ....plenty of car parking and dead easy to find. Shower was amazingly powerful but watch the dreaded shower curtain, l nearly drowned the place :). Breakfast was fine, no complaints except only full fat milk out ( i didnt ask for an alternative so dont know if it was available). Would have no problem staying again.

We have just come back from a one night stay at this hotel. Having exhausted all hotels in Brighton with no joy, we tried here.
The room was lovely and clean, with a nice comfy bed. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of there way, to make us feel comfortable.
Dinner and breakfast were both very good. Proximity to Brighton is very close, and Lewes is very pretty for a visit.
Rooms at the front of the hotel are noisy though. As it's on a busy road, but not unbearable.
