Alan and Paul, the owners, made a very important day, very memorable. It was our daughters wedding plus both parents forty-third wedding ans. on the same day.
We were made to feel so welcome nothing was a bother, details were mastered without a drama.
The venue is so special, un- equalled. The catering from canapés to a three course meal was without fuss. Staff service again moved amongst us so professionally seamless, graceful.
The firework display finale was a winner, the elevated home position meant you look at the display not up at it. The day was all the special with the cold dry, sunny conditions beautiful november day.
A very BIG thank you to Alan and Paul from Liz and izzy, our V.I.P.D.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Saltcote Place, the attention to detail in every aspect is second to none.

Paul and Alan were amazing - nothing is too much trouble, so helpful and obliging - it made our short break something to remember.

The suite was luxurious and generously proportioned, including turn down service, chocolates and night cap.

An unending choice for breakfast, cooked to perfection and served in a leisurely manner, allowing us the chance to engage with our hosts.

Perfectly located with only a short walk into Rye town centre, where there is an abundance of places to shop and eat.

No hesitation in recommending to anyone, if you are considering Rye as a place to stay this is a must!

Here, everything is done to perfection and with a personal touch that will ensure you will have the fondest of memories.

The highlights: attention to detail is second to none, champagne breakfasts, port and amaretto night-caps, luxurious and clean rooms, the house marvellously decorated throughout. Wifi too.

The hosts Paul and Alan are most hospitable and will strive to ensure you are well look after and entertained. Extremely friendly and helpful - full of tips for places to go (try the Ambrette, they also had a bottle of champagne ordered for us, how kind!) and their knowledge of the house, town and local communities is fascinating. They don't want it to be a run-of-the-mill hotel, but rather prefer the idea of welcoming you into their home.

Room Tip: Just tell the hosts in advance what you're looking for in terms of a room, and they'll ensur...

We were looking to find somewhere to stay for a night in Rye.We chose this accomodation based on TA reviews.
I rang Paul who was very friendly and advised us that Rye was hosting the Guy Faulks night bonfire . We didn't know this. Paul has a very quirky sense of humor and Alan's humorous rejoinders are terrific.
He had the Military Suite available. He also made arrangements to book is into a local restaurant.
We arrived about 7.30 pm and were warmly greeted at the door by Paul and Alan. They brought our bags in for us and took them up to our room. We were taken into the magnificent kitchen /dining area and offered a wine or drink while we got to know each other and found out more about the arrangements. They are lovely hosts and made us very welcome and comfortable . We were able to order our breakfast for the next morning and what time we would like it, and offered a nightcap for when we returned from the restaurant.
Our dinner at The Oast House was great. Beautiful food, well presented, tasty and reasonable. A great recommendation by Paul.
Our room was warm and comfortable with every amenity we could need. The attention to detail in this place is amazing. Beautiful flower arrangement, fresh fruit, bottled water, chocolates by the bed, IPod dock, TV, free Wifi. The room was beautifully prepared with folded towels and toiletries. The bathroom had a spa shower and large claw footed bath. I felt like cleopatra!
The next morning we went down for our breakfast. We had chosen a full English breakfast. We started with freshly squeezed orange juice with champagne, fresh fruit and yoghurt. This was followed by the cooked breakfast and then croissants and brioche . This was followed by tea and plunger coffee, to complete the perfect relaxed breakfast. Alan is a great cook and Paul the perfect host attending to our every need.
We have travelled the world and I don't think we have stayed in better accomodation. It was like visiting old friends. I would not hesitate to come bacK here when we next make the trip from down under. It would be very hard to come to the UK and not spend a few days here.A very special place indeed.

Saltcote place is a beautiful house, lovingly cared for by it's owners, Alain and Paul. From the moment we arrived, it was like staying with old friends, relaxing and comfortable. Our room was beautiful and very private. Breakfasts were divine, champagne a real treat too. We would (and will) go back and stay at Saltcote again without hesitation. We ate at several restaurants, Ambrette, Tuscan Kitchen and Simply italien....all exceptional and recommended by Alain and Paul.
Fabulous tripl we could have stayed longer.....

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful, we stayed in the Rother valley with its own private staircase and showe...

We were somewhat sceptical that anywhere could live up to the amazing reviews we had read, but in fact our weekend at Saltcote far exceeded our expectations. We were well and truly pampered from start to finish and could not have been made more welcome by Paul and Alan who have the knack of treating you like royalty without being in any way intrusive. The beautiful rooms are full of special little treats and the breakfast is amazing. If you are looking to treat yourself and escape for a few days of magic then Saltcote Place and lovely old Rye with its surrounding coastline is the perfect place to choose. We can't wait to go back!

We decided on a three night break in Rye with our elderly mother. It was important that the rooms and breakfast were of a very high standard as she has always enjoyed top quality for a few days, rather than weeks at a mediocre place. We also wanted somewhere that has plenty of interest within easy reach as she doesn't enjoy endless travelling each day.

Saltcote Place is a marvellous building set in lovely grounds but what makes it so special is the welcome and hospitality provided by Alan and Paul. Their attention to detail, their natural warmth and love of sharing their beautiful home with us, and the complete lack of pomposity and solemnity made our stay perfect.

Breakfast, from 9am, was outstanding, taken in the huge kitchen/breakfast room and providing a large range of freshly-prepared delights. Try not to miss the Eggs Royale - poached eggs on muffins with smoked salmon and home-made hollandaise. The fresh-fruit salad is pretty good too!

The Royal Military and Rother Valley suites are well-appointed, comfortable and feel like the best guest rooms in someone's home, rather than a production-line sleeping space in an impersonal hotel. The bathrooms were supremely stylish and spotlessly clean.

Alan and Paul have lived at Saltcote Place for many years and know the area very well. Their suggestions for dinner were excellent, as were their ideas for local places to visit and to shop.

In summary, I would unhesitatingly recommend Saltcote Place for a truly outstanding experience. Alan and Paul are the finest hosts one could wish for. It is not inexpensive, yet it delivers great quality and value for money.
