“Friendly people and varied menu”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Made a late booking on a Saturday evening. Staff very accommodating and cheery. Menu with plenty of choices and some unusual dishes. Can recommend wild garlic and white bean curry and the baked ham, duck egg and chips. Despite busy pub, nothing too much trouble for staff.

“Lovely food and service.”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Great meal here, especially the homemade ice cream! We had fishcakes made with lovely fresh fish and a great choice of beers and wine. Really lovely staff too, a smashing place to eat in.

“Excellent”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Myself and my boyfriend were staying in Camber and ventured into Rye one evening for food. We ended up picking this place and the food was excellent. I had the steak which was cooked exactly how I asked and my boyfriend had the ham, duck egg and chips and loved it. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and even though we were slightly early for food - we arrived at 6pm they weren't serving until 6.30pm - we still hardly had a wait as the waitress asked the chef if he would start slightly earlier so we were served just gone 6.30pm.

Loved the way it was decorated as well, very different to places we have at home.

“A little bit funky and lovely menu”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We ate here, with our dog in tow, on a Friday night at the beginning of a weekend away. We were made extremely welcome and loved the food. The menu was adventurous without being silly and enticed us away from some of our usual favourites. Very much appreciated the ability to order wine by the carafe as often a bottle is a little too much for the two of us.

“Pub with high-end cuisine”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

After a long hike we had lunch at the Pub, and what a surprise! Salads prepared with such details, and surprising ingredients. Food for the soul. Did I mention the fresh bread? Excellent. The Pub is really nice also but do not think for a minute food served here is what is generally understood to be 'pub food'. Visit, and find out for yourself.
