“Overpriced Garbage.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

Food and service crap.
Nasty and very very overpriced.
Slow and surly service when almost empty.
The hair in my food was the ultimate touch.
The absolutely worst place I have had the misfortune to set foot in.
Avoid this dump like the plague.

“If you like bland food and arrogant service, this place is for you !”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Went for dinner, looked like a nice place and had good reviews. However my steak was lukewarm ( the tarragon butter garnish didn't even melt on it ) and my wife's baked cod with peas & pancetta needed a ton of salt added to elicit any flavour. As I was draining my glass of Tempranillo, I noticed a lot of sediment in the bottom of the glass, but when I complained the waiter tried to explain that this was normal, in a thoroughly condescending manner that was downright offensive. We didn't leave a tip, but my tip to the chef would be "add some salt !", whilst my tip to the waiter would be "acquire some manners if you want to work in a service industry". Will never go back.

“Good food in a nice pub”

We had the fish pie and the vegetable curry. The food was nice and good quality. The staff are attentive and pleasant. Nice biltong and there are a number outside tables.

“We keep coming back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

The Ship is our favourite local. We pop in for a drink whenever we are passing, and eat here at least twice a month. The small menu changes frequently, and without exception everything is freshly cooked and delicious. If the smoked prawns are on the menu do try them - you get plenty and they are sublime. I recently tried the sirloin steak with marmite butter - definitely for the the marmite lover, but wow! Theo's cocktails are very different to the usual cosmopolitans, etc., but the espresso martini has a real kick! The decor is quirky, and evolves over time. The recent addition of a metal tile ceiling in a little dining nook complete with candles is beautiful. It is a very busy pub, but service is always friendly. Just sit back, relax and spend the whole evening here enjoying the food and ambience. We do!
