The Rye Lodge is ideally situated in the centre of Rye and has very good parking facilities. All the beautiful attractions of this historic town are within easy walking distance including many restaurants, cafes and pubs. My wife and I had a three night stay in this family owned and run hotel and were made to feel extremely comfortable by the friendly reception and service experienced throughout.
We stayed in a standard double room which was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully decorated, comments which apply to the entire hotel. We had excellent full English breakfasts in the hotel to start our days and took our evening meals in nearby restaurants.
If we take another trip to Rye this is definitely the place we will stay.

This was our third visit to Rye Lodge and will most definately not be our last. This time we chose to stay in the Champagne Room which is the most perfect room. The huge bay window and balcony which were South facing meant that our room was filled with sunshine first thing in the morning. A perfect place to have breakfast brought to the room.
The best thing about this hotel is that it is timeless and their attention to detail is second to none but in a very unobtrusive way. Should you need anything then there is someone available to help but no-one is constantly in your face.
One good thing is that they do not cater for large parties i.e. weddings or conferences so you can always guarantee personal service away from crowds and noise.
The Venetian Spa area although small is very intimate and you feel like you have it as a private facility.
Although the hotel does not cater for dinner in house they will make a booking for you at one of the great restaurants that Rye has to offer - there is great choice and the hotel will make all arrangements for you.
Mr. DeCourcy and his staff could not have made us feel more welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed sampling one of his many lovely bottles of champagne in the bar one evening whilst catching up on the days' events.
If you are looking for a boutique minimalistic hotel then this is not for you but if you want to relax, unwind and be made to feel very special then this is the place to do it.
This stay in Rye Lodge has been the best short stay away that we have ever had and this is the first review that we have ever been compelled to write.

Room Tip: All rooms great - Champagne Room is the best

This is a very nice hotel, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel is situated in the very heart of Rye, within minutes of shops, bars and restaurants with its own car park, swimming pool and jacuzzi.

The rooms very well appointed, if a little on the pricy side. Our room, a superior de lux with sun balcony, had bathrobes and slippers, a mini bar and TV. Although at the time of our visit a little attention was required to the exterior paintwork.

This is a hotel I would feel easy recommending to family and friends and we would certainly stay there again.

We had an offer for the room which was £50, normally costing £105. The room was tired looking, corners unclean and the furniture pretty shabby. The door to the room hit the bed as it opened, the wash basin was meant for children the hieght of it and the shower was the smallest shower I've ever used. If you could stop the shower curtain from cuddling you it was possible to get washed. Nice enough people but would not stay again or recommend it.

Management response:Responded 16 May 2011

As part of a newspaper promotion, this guest stayed in the smallest room in the hotel. Contact between the door and the bed only happens if the door is fully opened and has not presented a problem to any other guests. Although the en suite facilities in this room are compact this is reflected in the tariff for the room, and all facilities in the room comply with tourist authority regulations and have passed regular inspections.

At Rye Lodge we take great pride in the cleanliness of all areas of the hotel as well as providing outstanding personal service. We regret that on this occasion the guest was unhappy with the standard of their room, however if the problem had been brought to our attention on check-in an alternative room would have been offered immediately or the problem rectified at once.

This hotel was excellent in every respect, the accomodation , the dining room, the reception rooms and the swimming pool and areas were all excellent and Kerry and Jean de Courcy were perfect hosts with an amazing knowledge of wines, especially champagne . The perfect place to return to time and time again.
