We spent one night at the hopeanchor hotel as part of our for christmas present , We have stayed at the hopeanchor before and once again it did not dissapoint a friendly warm welcome and the food was excellent a three course dinner and the complementary bottle of wine went down very well., We did miss the homemade chocolates that we were offered on our last stay, the breakfast was very tastey and a great variety.

We spent two nights here and wish we could have stayed longer. I cannot fault the hotel as the room was very comfortable, the food excellent (especially breakfast) and the staff extremely helpful. Unfortunately it rained on Saturday but this didn't stop us walking around Rye and soaking up the character. Disappointed that Lamb House (NT) was closed but it is January! Will definitely recommend The Hope Anchor.

We frequently stay at provincial hotels for short breaks across Britain and this week end we decided to stay closer to home in the East Sussex coastal town of Rye. January did its best to put a damper on our stay with continual rain and grey skies but the welcome and service that we experienced in the Hope Anchor melted away the seasonal cold.

The room was was comfortable and afforded panoramic and atmospheric views of the ancient town. We stayed in an apartment across the cobbled street from the main hotel building and in
the biting cold of our first evening we walked across to the warmth of the dining room to settle down to one of the best meals I've ever experienced in a British hotel. The dining experience excelled in two areas, firstly the food which, from a tantalising yet realistic menu absolutely hit the spot and secondly the first class service which was polite and attentive across all the functions from front of house to cleaning staff to bar and waiting staff. Why do other hotels find this so hard to achieve?

In short we were sad to leave such a friendly and efficiently run hostelry and which richly deserves the many accolades bestowed upon it by contented guests.

Stayed here for only one night, but wished we stayed for another night. Stayed in the Jolly Sailor Room (no. 28) which was fantastic and would highly recommend this room. Wonderful hotel, great breakfast and lovely staff. In the words of The Terminator, "we'll be back". Thank you also to the member of bar staff who guided us through the rules of the game of dominoes. 10/10 to The Hope Anchor Hotel.

We just stayed 3 nights on their winter break deal for £99 per night incl breakfast, three course evening meal plus wine. The whole experience was wonderful. We had apartment A and our friends were in apartment B. The two apartments are actually separate from the main building but just short stroll across the charming little cobbled road. Some might find that inconvenient but the apartments are more than worth the trouble. We did look into some of the main building rooms and frankly would have been quite happy in any of them. Everything top quality and the location provides stunning views. Good breakfast and the dinner was well above average. Good choice and excellently cooked and presented. Thought the free bottle of wine would cheap plonk but not so. Good choice of very nice wines. Helpful and friendly staff.

Location also excellent as in the old part of Rye but just a bit off the really touristy bits.

We recently stayed for 2 nights on the special winter deal at £99 per night for both of us including breakfast, dinner and a bottle of wine....not only fantastic value but the food was excellent and you could even choose the wine from a good range of house wines which was a real surprise.
We had the junior suite which was on the second floor, nicely furnished, comfortable and a bit quirky with the bath and washbasin in the window in front of your bed and the shower and loo in another little room but no complaints whatsoever.
The staff were quite marvellous, very courteous , helpful and cheerful. I have to mention Jeremy the barman, we thought he was absolutely charming, entertaining and also very knowledgable about the area, it was a pleasure to go for a drink !
Well done to management and staff you are a credit to the hotel. We are lucky enough to travel a lot and rarely return to the same hotels but I am trying to justify another visit in the future....won't be too difficult to do !
Go and visit, you won't regret it.
