Delightful Hotel. Friendly staff who went above and beyond and could not have been more helpful. The food was very good and we enjoyed a very relaxing time. We stayed three nights and would go back. Rye is worth a visit and will not disappoint.

Thank you for your review. We will share your fulsome praise with the staff. Even after 31 years of stewardship, we still feel excited to read testimony such as yours. As you say, Rye is just as fascinatingas The Mermaid. So much to discover.

We hope we may welcome you again for another "relaxing time" at The Mermaid Inn.

Beautiful, old inn with down-to-earth, warm-hearted staff. Full of character with sloping floors and Tudor beams..Meant to be haunted. Lovely, traditional Full English breakfast, with, thankfully, no hash browns or beans. Be sure to reserve a space in their small, on site car park. In the perfect spot for Rye, which is an idyllic, quintessential English town,

I’m writing this review while staying at the Mermaid Inn. This is an olde world medieval inn, where every corner is decked in antique charm. There are many spooky corridors, narrow stairways, and hidden doors… getting lost here is part of the fun! The guest lounges are oak paneled and inviting, the restaurant is equally attractive and you will want to linger. My room was cosy and comfortable. The staff are friendly and allowed me to stay in two different rooms for my two night stay so that I could experience both. Both my rooms had their own unique charm. This place is reason enough to come back to Rye.

Thank you for your review. Rebuilt in 1420 and cellars dated to 1156, The Mermaid is a true time machine. Once seen never forgotten, and like a true siren always calls for a return stay.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Rye.

Just went for drinks a couple of times over the weekend. We loved it, especially Monday lunchtime when there was room to sit by the huge fireplace. Barman was very friendly (sorry didn't get your name). We have booked to come and stay for a night in July for our birthdays.

Wow! Absolutely loved staying here. Steeped in history. So cosy and comfortable, quirky and very interesting. The addition of log fires in the lounges and bar area added to our enjoyment. We were very comfortable in our standard room and was more than we expected and lovely and warm.

Your staff are a credit to your business. They obviously all enjoy working in such a lovely place and are friendly, relaxed but extremely attentive to their guests.

Breakfast was delicious 😋 ooh what a treat!
We will be back.
