Description: The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy a fantastic larder of local produce, from the freshest of fish landed in Rye and Hastings every day, to the wonderful delights from the Romney Marsh such as lamb and beef as well as the best of seasonal vegetables. With all this on our doorstep, we offer a good choice of local beers, ciders, wines and freshly prepared food, from our tapas, to our original choice of freshly prepared dishes and our homemade ice creams.

“Wow! ”
Reviewed 9 November 2013 via mobile

Caught a cab from Rye station and was rewarded with the all time great 70th birthday lunch-tapas to cry with delight served by another delight called Anna. George even had an 80% chocolate for my 15 year old Talisker- now that really is style! If you are anywhere within Driving distance at lunchtime head for The Plough and complete contentment.

“Boar Evening”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

Spent a lovely evening at the Plough with friends and en joyed the Wild Boar evening , the food was delicious, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, it does get rather busy here so it is recommend that you book in advance. On normal evenings the menu which offer fresh fish is delicious and the smoked haddock chowder is the next dish I will be trying, a nice cosy setting.

“A proper pub serving good food.”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

A friend and I stopped here for a bit of lunch today (a Friday) on our way back to Rye. The pub is old and has a comfortable interior. It was quiet: we were there for an hour approximately and saw only 6 other customers. We had a traditional ploughman's lunch (£7.50) and a smoked haddock chowder (£13.90). Both were of a very good standard (I've not had a better ploughmans) and the portions were generous. There is also a tapas menu. I think they had three real ales on draught: I had the Harveys, which was good. The staff were helpful and welcoming. There is an attractive garden with seating and a great view. I shall look forward to my next visit.
