A marvellously detailed model of the old Rye town, built by a husband and wife couple years ago over 4 years, used as their business for years before finally being sold to Rye Council. Three of us went late in the afternoon and had the small hall to ourselves, which was great. Overhead lights, plus other lights within the model buildings plus side lighting was all used to good effect with a commentary and slide show that gave a great history of this fascinating town. As you get close to the centre, the road and pavement signs seem to vanish, but persevere - it is well worth a visit. There are great cafes nearby after your visit as well to asssuage the thirst and hunger of the avid visitor.
