Beautifully decorated comfortable room in a spectacular old house on a steep street in the old town. Comfortable bed and rich furnishings in keeping with the feel of a bygone era. An excellent breakfast is served in an imposing dining room and the is a very comfortable bar that operates on an honour system. Attention to detail in every aspect of your stay makes this a memorable spot.

The whole town is charming but when you walk in the front door, you know this is special. Hundreds of years old, and lovingly restored by Jenny and her husband, each room is different. Amanda greeted us warmly, got us to our rooms, sorted out the parking. Cute bar off the lobby. My room had a power shower, greatly appreciated. Very central and great value. Happily prepared early breakfast for my foursome.

From the first moment through the door you realise that this is a special place. The attention is very personal and you feel that you matter. We stayed for five nights which, because we had not booked, meant that we would have to change rooms a couple of times. This was no problem as staff moved our luggage so the room changes were seamless. The location is in a quiet but attractive street and our rooms had views over the town roofs. Both rooms were very comfortable and well appointed with the usual extras. The bathrooms, though one was smallish, are well designed and with none of those annoying little failings that can let down the stay. The always open honesty bar is where you can meet with other residents who also seem to be aware that this is a special place. Jenny and Richard know a great deal about the local area and its attractions and are only too pleased to pass on their knowledge and personal experiences. The breakfasts are superb and cater well for the vegetarian. There is a sense of pride taken in every aspect of Jeakes House and I cannot rate it highly enough. When we stay next time however, I shall ask about the length of the bed. Four poster beds can be a little shorter than the norm and a tall person might feel slightly restricted. I have really tried to think of any drawbacks to this place and that is all I can think of. The small kindnesses and attention to detail made for a truly superb experience.

Room Tip: Being an old building there are some narrow and steep staircases. Be aware that some four poster bed...

A charming place on a charming street in a charming town, what could be nicer! The rooms are all different and beautifully decorated. Ours, 'Benson ' had a shower but next time (because we definitely plan to return) we shall choose a room with a bath for some leisurely soaking after a full day on our feet exploring the many attractions in Rye and beyond.

Room Tip: The friendly owners will discuss your preferences when you book.

Excellent stay, extremely well decorated and deserving more than its 5* going beyond just ticking the boxes on a review rating form.
Although a B&B it would rate well as a hotel, being a B&B it does not have staff waiting on you 24-7 our bags were carried to our room even though we had arrived early,
You are treated to a hi class guests lounge (Parlour) and separate Self Service Bar with honesty tab, making this feel like you have been given free range to a rich relative's house.
You can drop bags at the door, with the carpark an easy 5 min walk away although this was a concern we did not see or have any problems, if fact in Rye this is a benefit, just try to find a space anywhere else!.
Jenny and Richard make excellent hosts and with their team produce an excellent cooked to order breakfast with many choices.
We have been aware of Jeakes house for many years from literature found far and wide around the world, we should have come here long ago, I suspect it will only be months before we stay again.

Room Tip: Any Room looks like a good room, This is an old property on many levels with lots of stairs, but if...

A friend of mine said it looks too good to be true - great TripAdvisor reviews, beautiful rooms and a reasonable price. Believe me it isn’t.

We stayed for a weekend and I have to say that Jeake’s is fantastic. A beautifully furnished, welcoming hotel situated on one of the most beautiful and historic streets in Rye. The owners, Jenny and Richard, have thought of everything that will make guests feel welcome and comfortable.

We booked the Lorelei room, which has a separate bathroom just across the hall, as it was the only room available. This is the hotel’s smallest room and I was a little concerned as there are no images on the website, but I needn’t have worried. The Lorelei is a lovely bright room in the attic, overlooking gardens at the back of the property. There is a washbasin in the room. The bathroom is directly opposite and locks with your own key (which is a bit sticky – you have to pull the door tightly towards you to lock it).

The bedroom was equipped with everything we could possibly need – TV and phone, a well-stocked tea/coffee tray with biscuits, a full length mirror, soap, cotton wool and tissues, hairdryer, blankets, and a fan heater. Robes are also provided in the room to use when crossing the landing to the bathroom.

The bar and galleried breakfast room are stunning. Breakfasts were generous, with top quality ingredients. We didn’t use the honesty bar, but thought it a really nice touch and a fantastic place to spend a rainy or winter evening.

We ate out both evenings. To summarise, Webbe’s was great, and the Landgate Bistro was outstanding.

We will definitely stay here again if we are visiting the area.
