Stopped for lunch with a friend recently at the Swan and was amazed at the restaurant / brasserie interior. Have stopped here previously in the summer and had a pleasant lunch on their small terrace but not inside. The interior is a bizarre mix of wallpaper and dark colours with a hideous patterned floor, uncomfortable chairs ( lots of different chair and table designs going on )
and no discernible design theme. It is as if they are trying to give a 'City' feel to a lovely Cotswold building, it certainly doesn't work for me!
As a previous reviewer said we were just handed a menu and shown to a table, not a word from the waiter at this stage. He returned to take our order and stood silently throughout. The food we had was fine, no complaints there but the experience was ruined by the miserable treatment. When we paid the waiter mumbled a 'thank you' and was an English speaker so no language barrier excuses, he just didn't want to be there. He won't have to put up with us again that's for sure!

We had our wedding at The Swan last year (which was amazing) so thought it would be good idea to spend our first anniversary there. The room was amazing and we did have a really relaxing time as Bibury is a beautiful location. We were just disappointed with the new restaurant area - it no longer has the fine dining experience as before. Now they have opened it up (with a hideous new floor) it no longer feels intimate - we agree with a previous comment, it now feels more like a chain than a country retreat. The service is also not as great as it use to be. Every time we have been before to eat in the restaurant we have really been taken care of not just led to our table and handed a menu. You can't fault the reception staff though - they were both very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Shame their customer service skills don't extend to the bar and restaurant staff. Lovely location, great rooms just please bring back your customer service!

Room Tip: If looking for a romantic stay then choose the Dragonfly. It may not have a front view but its a qui...

The hotel is right in Bibury, a cute little town in the Cotswold. We had a supreme room which was attractive and large, with a very comfortable king bed. The bathroom was lovely and featured a jacuzzi bath. The hotel has modern amenities but is decorated with old world class. I loved the swan theme running through the hotel. There is a little lounge and bar area, each with wood burning fireplace. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. Both were delicious and a good value. The wine list has some great and reasonably priced wines. There are walks starting right in front of the hotel and a trout farm nearby. Overall really enjoyed my stay here!

We stayed here for a family wedding the week before Easter and although the weather was penetratingly cold (snow!) the hotel, with its roaring fires and friendly staff, was very welcoming. The room was a good size with a most comfortable bed, and huge bathroom, though just a bit shabby round the edges, for the price paid, we felt. Perhaps the extra was for the view, overlooking the river and gardens. We enjoyed very good meals in the bar and the restaurant, as well as most pleasant breakfasts, including the best soft-boiled eggs I have ever had in a hotel... unfortunately their coffee, in our opinion, let them down sadly, a warm, muddy, unpleasant concoction... also whenever we used the shower (over the bath) the floor ended up very wet indeed despite our best efforts to avoid it... nevertheless overall a very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Some rooms have separate baths and showers, less water on the floor...

We enjoyed a cosy lunch sitting in comfortable chairs in the bar area whilst on a visit to Bibury. Very nice pie although it is really a stew topped with a piece of loose pastry. A nice local lager and good service so no complaints from me. I noticed that the restaurant was very quiet with practically nobody dining for lunch but the restaurant is interesting modern decor and looks to be very enticing.

came across this place by chance. Had a lovely dinner and enquired about rooms. Fortunately they had one left - the bridal suite!

Room was fantastic, very well appointed with an amazingly comfortable bed. This is the first hotel I have stayed in with a few espresso machine with a range of complementary coffees.

Bathroom had a huge spa bath with a fine range of complimentary Molton Brown products.

A fabulous hotel in a beautiful location. Would definitely return.

I have just returned from a overnight stay at this hotel with a friend. For me it was a return after a previous stay last year which did not live up to expectations. However, I can say the experience this time was great, the staff are friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were lovely, overlooking the gardens and river. We have afternoon tea and dinner, both of which we really enjoyed.

The manager, Quentin was always always to hand and was proffesional and very helpful.

Overall had a great time
