On arrival there were two tables in use approx. 18.00 , none had reserved signs on them, advised we had only a choice of two tables in the whole of this empty restaurants, both were small and in the worst spot of the restaurant, anyway chose one of them, asked why we couldn't sit on other tables as the two other tables in use were being occupied also by a couple.
Advised likely to get busy and alt was to return at around 8pm and could chose our table them, very odd, as only couples arrived and everyone was couple was sat on a table table for four, but not us.

had dinner , food was ok , a bit overcooked, esp the fillet steak, the pate was nice but dry , poss dehydrated due to using brandy as a alcohol Advised waitress who just said "sorry ".???.

Probably one of the better restaurants in Bourton as most are below standard , but overall for the Cotswold its pretty average.
the area is to over populated for tourists so standards IMO are a bit slacking in most places as its often one off trade. And they don't need to work for repeat custom.

My advise would be perhaps leave the village and go somewhere that is a bit more customer focussed .

I chose to eat here during an overnight stay in Bourton based on the positive reviews and was not disappointed.

The service was great, all of the staff were very friendly and polite, and waiting times were just right. This was despite the place seemingly being at full capacity.

Both my parter and I thoroughly enjoyed our food; my lamb main was especially good, with the meat cooked to perfection.

If you're staying in the area and want basic British cuisine done very well for reasonable price then I'd certainly recommend.

Enjoyed a cream tea and hot chocolate on recommendation from locals when overwhelmed with choice!

Scone baked fresh and tasted delicious with generous amount of cream. My one criticism would be yo provide homemade/local jam rather than a shop bought pot - but only a small thing!

Good range of food/drinks and nice view of water/ducks. Quick service.

Toilets outside and round back were slightly inconvenient though.

Had Sunday roast very nice, staff very attentive and welcoming. Deserts, could have chosen 3 but settled for 1 panacotta. Would recommend a visit.

Taking a bit of a gamble with the gloomy clouds overhead, we opted for an outside table, under two parasols for our evening meal. Within yards of the River Windrush this was a very pleasant spot for dining alfresco. The pork belly and trimmings was delicious and the melting chocolate pudding with ice-cream was absolutely mouth-watering. By the time the desserts arrived, so had the rain, but the waitress found us a warm table inside. Excellent service. Our evening meal was well worth the money. On another lunch-time however we had a cream tea; that was lovely, but the caramel shortcake was surprisingly disappointing...... A bland and dry biscuit base. Well, you can't have everything go your way can you?
