“The perfect get-away for a restful recharge of the "batteries"”
Reviewed 13 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Well Cottage is the most charismatic little cottage, set just a couple of minutes from the gentle River Windrush which meanders through the beautiful little village of Bourton-on-the Water. I have been taking a weeks holiday at Well Cottage, every year for over ten years now, so it has become "home from home". The cottage is very well equipped and cosy. It is set in a beautifully peaceful area, only a few minutes walk from all the many attractions, and I would highly recommend it to anyone asking where they might stay. Well done Bette, we all had another lovely holiday!

“Best cottage we've ever stayed in!”

This cottage is delightful and full of period charm, from the well outside in the attractive cottage garden, to the inglenook fireplace and beams inside. We loved the decor, antique furnishings, character features and homely atmosphere. We immediately felt at home and settled. The cottage is very well equipped, with comfortable bedrooms and lounge and a handy kitchen. This was our third visit during varying seasons and the cottage is always cosy, with a woodburning fire and central heating. The location is ideal, two minutes from the centre of Bourton on the Water but feeling delightfully rural, with the River Windrush and stone footbridge forming the end of the cul de sac. The area is so attractive and quiet with beautiful walks and scenery on the doorstep. The family that owns Well Cottage are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to our next holiday!

“Cosy, calm and charming cottage”

We (2 adults, 2 18 years old teenagers) stayed in "The Well" for a week at end of October 2011. We were charmed by this cosy and lovely acommodation from the first second on we moved in. Lying in a dead end road only a few footsteps away from river Windrush we had a calm and relaxed living there. Bourton-on-the-Water is a lovely village. Small shops. A good choice of inns, pubs and restaurants. Beautiful countrysite around. Good hiking area. We loved our trips to Oxford, Stratford-on-Avon, Gloucester and Cheltenham, which are only a mere 45 minutes by car. So tourists can mix rural and civic experiences quite easily if they like. For dinner in Bourton we recommend "Rose Tree Restaurant". Good food. Friendly service. We hope to come back on one of these days.

“Unfriendly owners”
Reviewed 21 July 2011 for a stay in December 2010

The cottage was average, needs some updating. We arrived early and the owner was very rude and would not let us gain entry until the agreed time(even though the cottage was ready). Would not go back there again. The area was lovely and it was great to have everything on our doorstop.

Management Response
4 Nov 2011
Thank you for your review, we are sorry for your unfortunate experience but since you stayed at Well Cottage over a year ago we have extensively updated the property and with regards to your arrival, it was not the owners that were rude it unfortunately was our cleaner who was still finishing off her cleaning and we apologise for any misunderstanding. Glad we hear you enjoyed the area and the fact that everything was on your doorstep and within walking distance.
