“wonderful stay”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

My wife and I and our 2 friends enjoyed a wonderful 2 night break at the Broadlands on July 5/6th. The rooms were very clean and spacious and facilities were excellent, location was very good and very close to all of Bourton's restaurants and shops. Marco and his staff did everything to make us welcome and the breakfast could not have been bettered. We are now looking forward to our next visit, thank you Marco

Room Tip: Room 11 is the King room!

Our lovely room was on two levels. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Marco was always happy to help with any queries or information on places to dine. Breakfast was just great and it was served in a sunny conservatory. Free parking. I would highly recommend and hope we can stay there again in the not too distant future. Thanks Marco for a lovely stay at Bourton on the water.

The best thing about this hotel is it's location - still very central but off the main street which meant we enjoyed a very peaceful and quiet time there. There's no noise from traffic. We woke up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping - how wonderful! It's within easy walking distance of all the main attractions in the town.
The building is built with the same kind of stone as you see elsewhere in the Cotswold. Inside it's nicely decorated in a kind of old-fashioned style, but still comfortable and to our liking.
We had the luxury suite, which was room 12 located on the top (2nd) floor of the main building. This had a spacious main bedroom and a separate lounge with a TV (which we never used), couch, dining table and a sink and a fridge. There are some tea/coffee making facilities as well but not much other cutlery.
Parking is in an inner court yard. The parking spaces are quite narrow so if you have a broad body like me, it may be a tight squeeze!
Breakfast is made to order and was quite tasty, especially the bacon. No time to sleep too late though, they only serve it between 8 and 9!
The bathroom is quite small and the shower is not at all comfortable.

Room Tip: The luxury suite was a great choice (room 12). It was on the top (2nd) floor of the main building an...

After ringing the bell and knocking at the door we finally were greeted by a man who I assume was Marco though he didn't introduce himself to us, he showed us in and briefly explained what time breakfast was and what room number we were in and that was the last we saw of him on our 2 night visit. We took ourselves up to our room no 4 and we were not impressed for £80 a night this B and B is definitely overpriced and there is nothing luxury about it it is definitely in need of a refurb wood chipped wall paper, plastic cups, plastic shower curtain, cheap coffee sachets and dated bathroom I must admit for the price we did expect a lot more. We were very disappointed as wanting a relaxing weekend having the breakfast time from 8am till 9am was not good even on the Sunday they didn't serve a later breakfast also waiting over half an hour for it specially when my partner only wanted cereal and toast was a joke! The coffee was the worst I've had in a long time. The only good points about it as other reviews have said is the beds we did sleep well there and the location as it's only a few minutes walk into the village though it is very small with only a few pubs and restaurants. Next time I would prefer to stay in Stow as there is much more going on. All in all beautiful area but we were very disappointed with this B and B and wouldn't recommend.

We had a double in the main building. For £80 you couldn't go wrong. Nice and clean, lots of hot water, great parking, 2 min walk from the village centre. The best thing was how comfortable the bed was...omg, we both slept like logs...We stayed 2 nights. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked, didn't stick to the menu, we just said what we wanted. Asked for more tea and coffee, nothing was a problem.
Marco and his staff, very friendly.
Did I mention how comfortable the bed was ?

This is a quiet and comfortable Guesthouse in Bourton-on-the-Water, situated far enough away from the summer hustle and bustle but only minutes walk to the river and the "main drag". I paid £80 per night for a luxury suite (I do not even remember if I deliberately chose that or if it was an offer at the same price as the normal rooms). Here is the summary of my stay.

Location: as already mentioned, it is perfectly located. Set far enough back from the main hustle and bustle but only a few minutes walk back to the main street. The rooms are blissfully quiet (well, mine was anyway).

Service: such lovely service from Marco and his colleagues. Breakfast is put on from 8-9am and it is basic but tasty and sufficient. Marco is a lovely host, making sure he stopped and had a chat with me and did not just check me in and leave me to my own devices. No fault in service at all.

Sleep Quality: lovely! Comfortable bed, quiet rooms and shades that can be drawn to keep out the light. I slept deeply and well both nights.

Cleanliness: Perfect. Room was spotless and well cleaned and tidied each day.

Rooms: These would have been perfect but for two things. Extremely poor water pressure in the shower and no WiFi connectivity at all in the rooms. It looked like it had caught, but no service despite full bars. The water pressure issue was the main one, though. When I tried to wash the shampoo out of my hair, the water pressure reduced so badly that only a trickle came out. It was weak to begin with but it stopped altogether when I did that. The bath was fine but I just wanted a quick shower and could not have one. Poor water pressure and no WiFi in the rooms is why this property lost one star.

Otherwise it is lovely and I would return in the future.

We used BRoadlands to accommodate some visitors we had from France. Marco could not have been more helpful or friendly. Our visitors raved about the breakfast and said the accommodation was perfect. Marco even talked to them in French. We will definitely use Broadlands again if we have more visitors.
