“Birthday treat”
Reviewed 6 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

What a lovely little cottage. First time in Bourton and is a beautiful place. Cottage is very nice and a great combination of old meets new. Kitchen is very modern and has all the mod cons whilst retaining its old charm. Right in the heart of Bourton it's ideally positioned to walk to the many shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend this to friends and family and will hopefully come back again soon.

Excellent location to see beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water and villages in Cotswold.

Cute and sweet little cottage. Very clean with full household facilities. The hosts were so charming and understanding and perfect. Highly recommended to those who want to experience Cotswold life.

Liked best: Hosts make themselves so noninvasive making us feel so at home.
Liked least: None, Low ceilings n narrow stairs make the cottage charming.

“Lovely cottage, perfect location”

A really lovely Cotswold cottage in a great location. The owners have retained the original character of the cottage but have added high spec kitchen and bathroom so every convenience is available. Very clean, nicely decorated and high quality furnishings.

The cottage is only 2-3 minutes from the high street but is in a secluded lane so hardly any passers by and very quiet and peaceful. Ideally situated to explore Bourton and with it's own parking space (a rarity in this area!).

We sent a a few e-mails to the owners and received prompt and helpful replies to each one.

Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bourton. Be sure to visit the Rose Tree restaurant if you enjoy nice food and good service.

“Relaxing break in Bourton on the Water”

A good location in the heart of the village. We only had to walk down the lane to be in at all the shops, pubs and restaurants. We found the cottage very clean with a bottle of wine and a pint of milk in the fridge. We sat outside in the sunshine with our wine.
We have a hatchback which just fitted into the parking space,so if you have a Rolls Royce leave it at home . Any Giants ( people over 6ft tall may find the height of the ceiling a bit low. Free wifi meant we could look up places to visit, although the information pack was very useful. Found a great walk to the Slaughters in it. The upstairs bedroom was very quiet so we slept soundly. The bathroom had a shower/ bath great for relaxing in. I missed not having any bath/ shower gel though.

“Exudes character, charm & quality”
Reviewed 28 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This superb Grade II listed character cottage favourably impressed us from the moment we stepped through the front door into the living room/lounge which is dominated by a huge inglenook fireplace with a dual fuel burning (logs & coal) fire. We stayed during the first week in May, and it wasn’t sufficiently cold to have used the fire, but there is also full gas central heating if the weather is cool.

The walls in the lounge area are of exposed golden yellow Cotswold stone, and the floor is oak planked with a large, dark rug in front of the fireplace.

I’m 5’ 11”, and I did find it necessary to duck slightly to avoid the beams in the lounge, but it is after all features such as beams that contribute to a cottage's character.

Seating consists of an extremely comfortable dark brown two-seater leather settee and a cream leather tub chair. A space-saving light wood drop leaf table was against the wall, and had a cupboard in it into which were stored four folding dining chairs. There was only a friend and myself staying at the cottage, and we found the table sufficiently large to eat at with one leaf up and we left it like that for the duration of our stay, there being sufficient space around it.

A flat screen digital television was on a shelf in the corner of the room, along with two small solid wood occasional tables.

At the rear of the room is the fully equipped compact kitchen area with white units and which includes a slimline dishwasher. There seemed to be every possible utensil needed, including a pizza cutter and a corkscrew, the latter being for me an essential requirement of a self-catering property!

The fridge contained a chilled bottle of white wine, milk, and tea bags/coffee/sugar had also been left, all of which were very much appreciated.

A staircase leads upstairs to the first floor on which are located a very attractive double bedroom which has a wood-beamed ceiling and built-in wardrobe and shelves, along with a chair and two bedside units.

The bathroom is opposite, and consists of a quality modern white suite with a very powerful over bath shower, a heated towel rail which is on a pre-programed timer, and over the washbasin is a mirror with motion activated lights (you just move your hand below the mirror’s shelf).

In the owners’ description, mention is made that the stairs to the second floor single bedroom may not be suitable for the elderly or young children. I had already told my friend with whom I was staying that I would have the single bedroom, but I was slightly apprehensive when I looked at the stairs to it because they are steeper than the ones to the first floor. However, there are handrails, and I found that by holding onto them and taking my time that I had no problems at all.

The stairs lead straight into the single bedroom which is in the eaves of the roof, and is very characterful with a sloping ceiling and several exposed wood beams. There is a chair, a bedside unit with drawers and a second one, but unfortunately the slope of the ceiling means that the room cannot accommodate a wardrobe. There are though hooks for clothes.

We found the beds to be exceptionally comfortable and had quality bedlinen, and the towels were luxuriously soft Egyptian cotton.

Long-stay parking in the village is quite expensive, but this cottage fortunately has its own parking space at the front. Between the parking space and the front door is a delightful secluded patio with a table and two chairs. The patio faces south, and we enjoyed lunch out there one day when it was warm. Although the High Street and the village centre is only a two minute walk at the most from the cottage, the only noises we heard was that of birdsong.

My friend and I both have senior citizens bus passes, and were very pleased to find that buses stop on the corner of the lane, one side of the road is for Cheltenham and the other Stow-in-the-Wold, and Morton-in-Marsh.

I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this delightful property, and found the owners a pleasure to deal with.
