Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham
Ranked #11 of 23 Hotels in Cheltenham

We visited Cheltenham for a family event. We booked a double room for three nights at £210, which included breakfast.
The location is good, in a quiet area, just off the high street. Within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants & parks. Also, it is across the road from cinema complex & an all important Nandos! There is no on-site parking, however there is a NCP car park across the road which offers 25% discount to residents. This worked out at £9 per 24 hours, very reasonable.
The rooms were as you would expect; bed, sofa bed, tv, shower room. One thing I can say is that the room was spotlessly clean & was cleaned each day of our stay.
Self service breakfast was between 7am & 10am. There were hot options; scrambled egg, beans & sausages as well as toast, yogurts, cereals & fruit.
Service was great. We arrived at 1am on a Saturday morning, after a long drive from Glasgow. It was no problem for residents to be served a well deserved alcoholic drink at the bar at that time.
In addition, we had a family event on the Sunday & telephoned reception on the off chance that they had an iron we could borrow. Again, no problem. We collected an iron & ironing board at reception and returned it when finished.
Nice clean room, good location & service at a reasonable price. We'd stay here again without question

Hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, right next to The Brewery which has bars, restaurants, gym and cinema. Only a 5 min walk to other central bars and parking is over the road in the NCP, £12 over night but ask at Reception when booking out and they give you a discount card to put in before you pay :)

Check in was quick and easy, very pleasant actually as she chatted about what was going on and handed us a map of the town with helpful info and discounts within the Brewery complex.

The hotel was very clean, bedroom was a good size, wardrobe just about ok and great bathroom with a nice hot powerful shower.

Bed wasn't great, a bit lively and bouncy but we slept ok, TV worked a treat and all in all the room was fine, especially for what you pay (£63 per night).

The chilling out area outside was nice, bar area and breakfast area was well laid out and clean.

Breakfast is free and was ok, you get sausage, beans and scrambled egg for hot food, as well as cereals, yoghurts, breads and such.
Plentiful toast, tea, coffee and the usual also present.
The breakfast was only ok, I enjoyed the breads and fruit along with the toast but the hot food wasn't hot at all, that could do with looking at, I don't mind cold beans but slightly warm beans isn't nice !!

Staff all over the hotel were very pleasant and couldn't be faulted.

All in all a nice stay, very clean, great staff, good room with hot shower and great location.
Shame the breakfast wasn't hotter.

A good stay and great value hotel, well done.

Lovely hotel/position really handy for the towncentre and the brewery area. The hotel staff are friendly rooms are spacious and clean and the power showers in the room are incredible. The courtyard bar area was lovely and a great sun trap for a drink. A really great stay!!

Stayed here to attend a friends birthday party in the town. Finding the place was fine, and parking in the NCP next door was ok too. You get 25% off the car park with a voucher from the hotel which is good.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful, we signed up for some reward scheme for free which meant we could check out late on the Sunday (2pm), and they went through this with us.
The room was really nice, modern, clean, and spacious, and also came with a sofa bed which I wasnt aware of. The shower was great, really hot and really powerful.
The bar stays open all night from what I experienced and is actually better priced than some of the bars in town.
The food on offer 24/7 from the bar or room service is actually good value too. I had a large pepperoni pizza in the bar at about 2:30am, for £5.
The only downside I found was the breakfast. I was looking forward to it after a big night out, but was seriously disappointed. The beans were cold and a bit sweet, the scrambled egg was 'odd', the sausages were underdone... where was the bacon? where were the hash browns? Fried/poached eggs? Black pudding? Mushrooms? Tomatoes? Really poor. Even the juices were watered down.
I was very glad to be going to the nearby all you can eat chinese for lunch!
The hotel also offers a discount at loads of nearby restaurants which is great.

This is sadly a very late review as I forgot to do it!! I wish I could remove an old review I left for this Hotel as they have more than redeemed themselves over our disappointing first stay... I now wouldn't hesitate to stay again....I had to moan about our original stay, but after speaking to the Hotel management we came to an agreeable conclusion, and arranged a stay for us at very generous rate...It was good to hear that one of my comments(barking dog) had been taken very seriously and the policy now is 'no dogs in the hotel' so thanks for that, complaints 'are' heard and dealt with....We took our next trip to Cheltenham on our wedding anniversary, and the Hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of wine which was a lovely thought :) .... Our room was lovely, clean and comfy ( and quiet, lol) the staff were all lovely, even the ones who couldn't have known we were on a special return visit! Breakfast was great, and relaxed and food plentiful, so another great plus there! We would happily return and had a lovely day in Cheltenham which is a short walk away...We plan go to the racecourse this year, so we will return...Thanks once again to the management, who dealt with my complaint in a professional and friendly way(i know these days, complaints are made all to easily to gain favours and give a bad name, this was not the case here)...I must just apologise for my very late review....

Stayed here April 15th-19th and went to races on the Wednesday and Thursday. The hotel's location and facilities were just what we required. The staff were pleasant and courteous and the rooms although basic were bright and clean. The breakfast was more than adequate with hot option of egg beans and sausage or croissant, pastries, cereal, yogurt etc.Just a couple of improvements-no free wifi is a rarity and not good enough and also the last time we stayed here they had sky tv in the bar area but only freeview now? Overall good hotel in prime position and would stay again when in the area.

Room Tip: get a double room with sofa bed as well-larger room for same price

Big thanks go to Chris & Chris and Sander on the bar. They really are a credit to HIE. Their help and excellent attitude helped to make our stay very enjoyable. The room was basic, as you would expect but very clean. Overall very happy we stayed here. Will definitely stay here again.
