Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for one night recently. The Hotel is a stunning looking building. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good, catering for all tastes. The vicinity of the hotel is very central and perfect for all the shops and sites of Cheltenham. We would definitely return to this Hotel

We stayed in this hotel. Beautiful place, a little outdated but still beautiful. The grass area right outside was a beautiful place to sit and we were able to buy and drink a beer or two in the park. Shops, restaurant close by. Nightlife not too far away but far enough that it's not on your doorstep.

The hotel location was why we booked here, and it was perfect. The shops and restaurants were a short walk away. The hotel was lovely, friendly helpful staff, and the rooms were clean although a little tired, but we don't go away to sit in the room so we loved it. We didn't eat in the hotel either, so cannot comment on food, but the barman makes a mean cocktail! Overall, I would certainly recommend it and we will definately be staying there again soon as we love Cheltenham.

Room Tip: Although there is not a pool at the hotel, we were able to use the local college as they have an arr...

We loved this hotel as so central, beautiful olds worldy hotel friendly staff at reception on arrival. We had upgraded to a privilege room at booking and the room was wonderful so spacious pretty much like a suite only thing that let it down was some small touches only one bath robe, very small
Selection of soft drinks in mini bar asked for more still bottled water they brought just one extra! Tea and coffee facilities good but lacked biscuits no bottle opener to open the complimentary drinks and the A/C was almost non existent so being heavily pregnant had to sleep with all
Windows open which meant lots of
Noise from outside! Didn't mind so much as bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was good tasty full English didn't eat at
Restaurant here as had a birthday party that evening.

We were pleasantly surprised at the extent to which this hotel has retained its style when so many of it contemporaries in the sector have succumbed to failed upkeep, faded glory, and loss of service quality. This has not, despite the ownership of the chain. Our check in set the trend with helpful and friendly staff, and this was a feature throughout at all levels. In particular, Dan and Kathryn in the restaurant were superb, and stood out among staff which were consistently excellent. They went the extra mile, displayed great humour, and were professional in all they did. The food, particularly at dinner, was first class. Afternoon tea was a treat, both in presentation and quality. I am not a great lover of hotel breakfasts unless they are cooked to order, otherwise they cannot help but become dry and a little past their best. This was better than most. Our room was not large, but ample, clean and tidy. Congratulations to the chain for the way in which they have maintained the traditions of this fabulous hotel. Much of this is down to the equally fabulous staff.

My wife and I stayed here last night (23/5/14) after attending a wedding. For a wedding this venue was fantastic, lots of regency photo opportunities, and everyone had a fantastic time. The wedding breakfast food was just excellent, and the service great, but the price of drinks at the bar was extortionate! £6.90 for a bottle of Cheltenham SPA ale, £34 for a bottle of Australian Red, oh and £2.90 for a small bottle of coke (150ml). The wine menu says a fair price for wine, i'd love to know what that means! (£34 will buy you six great Australian Reds from Laithwaites wine).
The room was very spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and I had a great nights sleep. The room came with free tea and coffee, and soft drinks, although I found it quite difficult to open a Coke without a bottle opener, and the strawberry drink was out of date (by only a week, but that's not the point!).
Breakfast was O.K. a great selection of both hot and cold foods.
I have always wondered what it would be like to stay in this Hotel. I live only 10 miles away, and have been passed this hotel 100's of times. Whilst we had a great time and the wedding was fantastic, I don't think I will be visiting here again.

The good thing about the hotel is it's location, right in the centre of town with parking, but you pay £10/day for this. Breakfast is poor considering the price. I ordered a poached egg and it eventually arrived but it was hard boiled. Croissants, etc are served in the draw of a dresser for some reason. Infact service in the restaurant is a bit slow.
The rooms are quite nice considering the age of the hotel, but for some reason I didn't get a good night sleep whilst there. The mattress and pillow just didn't agree with me.
On the Saturday night we where having a drink in the lobby and the fire alarm went off, for some reason nobody moved, everybody carried on as if it wasn't happening. The staff where running around. When we asked somebody what was happening they said the smoke alarm in a restaurant attached to the hotel goes off which means the hotel's alarm goes off.

Room Tip: Ring the hotel and haggle for the best price. If you fail ring back later and try again

Dear Guest,

The standard of service you received at breakfast is not indicative of our usual high performance and I apologise that on this occasion we have let you, as well as ourselves down.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the fire alarm, this is not acceptable and I we will look into this immediately.

Kind Regards
