“Step back in time. Then pay £10 to park your car.”
Reviewed 22 January 2011

Stayed here this month through work. Very large room with double bed, sofa, armchair and a large ensute bathroom. Was given a voucher for a free drink, plus quality flapjacks and bottled water provided in the room which is a nice touch which made me feel welcome. Hotel is slightly faded but still very grand. I ate dinner in nearby Brasserie Blanc which was once the ballroom of the hotel. Slept OK and breakfast was good. Was feeling pretty good until I was asked for £10 for parking which seems like a lot for not a lot. There is no adequate warning of this. Good value on the whole when compared to others.

You should be aware that there is a car park charge of £10 per 24 hours.
Very good breakfast. Dinner a bit expensive but was beautifully cooked and presented.

I recently booked a trip for my parents to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at this hotel. I selected the hotel as my mother worked at the hotel in the 1950's and had never stayed here. I was a bit dubious having read some of the reviews but i needn't have worried. My parents absolutely loved their stay and had nothing but positive remarks about the hotel. On arrival they were greeted by friendly staff who were expecting them and made them feel very welcome. They commented on the service and the friendliness of the staff through out their stay -nothing was too much trouble. They stayed in the Queen Elizabeth Suite and as I joined them for the day during their stay i can personally confirm that the room was lovely and warm, very clean and comfortable and my mother could not stop smiling at the size of the four poster bed! There was plenty of space in the room and the hotel has loads of character. My mom remembered the beautiful feature stairwell from when she worked there. Their bathroom was spacious and modern and very clean. My parents enjoyed their breakfast and the choice was extensive and were offered all sorts of items e.g. porridge or kippers as well as continental and also a full english breakfast in a buffet style selection. They also ate in the bar and found the food excellent and the service top notch. I would not hesitate to recommend the Queen's as a lovely place to stay in Cheltenham - it's a very short stroll to the fantastic array of shops and as my parents are quite fussy (especially when it comes to the rooms being warm and the food being good) the hotel well exceeded their expectations. The hotel is also lucky to have the asset of fantastic staff who were helpful from start to finish. My liaisons were Becca who helped me with the booking were very friendly and helpful and made me feel like a valued customer. I'm looking forward to booking more visits in the future.

Arrived in the evening of Christmas day. Good welcome in snowy icy conditions. Car park and paths very slippery, but lovely warm and comfortable room. Lovely beds. Good breakfast.

This is a great traditional hotel for anyone visiting Cheltenham - a stone's throw from great shopping, excellent restaurants and pubs. Lovely walks abound - fabulous architecture, public parks etc and within easy drive of Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Winchcombe, and other lovely Cotswolds towns & villages.
