We booked this solely on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews (it is outside of the AA scheme for some reason, but we took a chance). It really is a tremendous discovery, excellent conversion of a Cotswold manor house. We ended up in one of the annexe rooms and I think on balance they are the best option, real luxury. Highly recommended!

I have visited Ellenborough Park on a number of occasions and every time it has been top notch, you do pay for this though. Rather Pricey but you can tell why, staff seem to be highly trained and very respectful, helpful etc. Food from each of their kitchens is always good, from a burger on the patio to a full on christmas dinner for 15+ people.
Highly recommended for those looking for a special place and no concern for price.

Room Tip: If possible, ask to see the room in the tower, easily their most impressive room.

I treated my wife Jennifer to an evening dinner in the fine dining room on her birthday. The menu was well presented with plenty of choice and was superbly cooked, . A pre starter mushroom mouse compliments of the chef was very welcome, my Chateau Brionne main coarse was carved at the table and was very tender. We had been to Cornwall the weekend previous and my wife had complained that she had missed out on a Cornish cream tea, so when I booked the meal I put in a special request for scones, clotted cream and Jam for her desert, unfortunately this request was not passed on - but the staff did manage to magic up with fresh strawberries on top. The service was fantastic and the waiter very knowledgeable. Well done.

The positive part of my report: Ellenborough Park offers probably the best room comfort that you can expect anywhere on this world. And the best staff - wonderful people! And the best breakfast buffet! And an as nearly perfect cuisine. And the most elegant dining and drawing rooms. But PLEASE: Dear investors/owners: Invest a little bit (or more) money in the surroundings! Unless you are a rich business man from near-by Cheltenham or Gloucester who picks the hotel to impress his partners, you expect a luxury retreat in the middle of the Cotswolds to be embedded in quiet well groomed park or forest surroundings, such as many of the well known places in the area. Approaching the hotel by the long driveway through naked boring land in a big circle, you feel like driving on the moon - and disappointed. Just a few poor daffodils planted in a strange patchy way greet you. But again: The hotel is great!

Room Tip: Try to stay in the main building

Thank you so much for your very positive review and specifically for your comments regarding our gardens. We have recently survived a coldest winter for a number of years and are currently managing the wettest drought in recent history. Our trees and plants have become confused and a considerable number have not survived these very tough conditions.
We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you so if you would like to contact me on Cheltenham (01242) 545454.

As we entered the grounds of ellenborough park, the grandiouse, mandering driveway led us to the front door, where a friendly porter collected our luggage and led us to reception. As we swiftly checked in, albeit with a slight 5 minute delay as our room was being prepared, we coldnt help but marvel at the stunning rooms and fine furnishings.

Our traditional room exceeded our expectations. A grand entrance with a long corridor, a luxurious and spacious room, and a decadant bathroom with all of the trimmings and attention to detail that you could expect from a five star hotel of this caliber.

The pool was luxurious, heated perfectly for a cold spring afternoon. The staff were impecibly friendly and welcoming. It was hard to find fault.

Its the small things that we loved; The iced water brought to us when relaxing the spa juccuzzi; the porter running out into the rain to collect my partner's coat that was left in the car on arrival; turning the sheets when we made our way out of our room for the evening, leaving slippers by the bed; collecting our bags on checkout; offering boots and umbrellas to borrow; these guys really know how to make you their priority and of utmost comfort.

There were only a few things that we could pick apart.

The spa was a little small. For a 60+ room hotel, it wasnt proportionate.

The brassierie, again, was a little too small and crowded. As a result, we were ushered away into the grand hall for drinks there.

And finally, although not detrimental, there was a low level hum not dissimiliar to the inside of a commercial flight, which was noticeable enough to raise question.

However, these things certainly did not detract from what i can oly describe as a purely luxurious overnight stay in a classical hotel with beautiful surroundings and facitlities.

We will definintely consider a return visit, and will be recommending to friends and family too.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 15 which was luxurious, but did experience a low level humming noise that resembled a...

Booked a 2 night break with my wife and 5 month old son for Christmas. We were given a room upgrade after some confusion with the Christmas lunch booking; room was outstanding and even had a baby bath for the little one. Service was excellent, hotel is gorgeous; booked my wife into the spa which I'm told was very good. Would love to visit again and definitely recommend Ellenborough Park to anyone
