“A little piece if heaven”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We just love this place. It's so peaceful and relaxing. We have stayed here a number of times. The spa is amazing, the staff could not be more helpful. Generally the service is fantastic, although on our recent stay we were somewhat disappointed not to be able to book a table in the brasserie before 9pm, we felt the manager was a little less than helpful. This will not put us off of going back again though

We stayed for two nights for my hubby's 50th birthday and also Valentines' day. This was truly a 5-star experience. The service and attention to detail was impeccable. The food in both restaurants and bar excellent. All of the staff were professional helpful and welcoming. Only criticism and this is a minor point, is that the entry to the spa was from outside and given the wild windy and rainy weather when we stayed made it a no go for us. We will definitely go back. It is a must for couples looking for a romantic get a way in England.

We just loved our stay...everything was impeccable and the staff so very lovely. I actually had hurt my foot the day before I arrived and they found an emergency hospital and are what could have been a vacation spoiler to a real save for us. Thank you.....

Visited the ellenborough for a Big birthday celebration afternoon tea. The weather was, as usual, wet, windy and cold, so it was with some relief to be ushered into this stunning hotel and taken through to the lounge. A beautiful room, with huge, squishy sofas in front of a log fire. Our table was laid with elegant china, fine linen and silver. Sadly the food did not live up to the surroundings. Since great British bake off we all expect a bit of a wow factor to come with our tea, especially in a hotel of this quality. The scones were uneatable and the rest was unimaginative. Had expected so much more!

Thank you for your review, naturally, we are very disappointed that your experience with your afternoon tea was not up to our usual high standards. We like to make sure our guests have the best possible experience and this will be looked into. I am pleased you enjoyed the Great Hall, squishy sofas in front of the log fire.

We stayed at Ellenborough Park for a weekend at the end of January and what a treat it was - even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits. Our room was in one of the outbuildings - huge comfy SuperKing bed, and the most gorgeous bathroom - if we hadn't had dinner reservations, I would have luxuriated in that bath for hours - glass of red, relaxing music - absolute bliss! Had dinner in the Brasserie and thought the food was great and really reasonable - no, it's not an a la carte menu, but this is a Brasserie. Then relaxed in the Great lounge with a fire roaring to enjoy after dinner drinks. Enjoyed a fantastic day taking in the sights of the Cotswolds, followed by a Burns night dinner at the Royal Oak - fab night out - then retreated back to the Great Lounge to end the night. Breakfast both days was superb - cannot fault it. Maybe some background music playing would be good so that you don't feel like other guests may have to listen to your conversation. I loved the atmosphere at this hotel, staff really friendly and attentative without being instrusive, great views over the Race Course and peace and quiet. With our batteries recharged we reluctantly headed home on the Sunday. Cannot wait to plan our next visit. Maybe next time we'll get a chance to try out the Spa.

Room Tip: Didn't think to request a room with a Bath, but got one anyway, and would definitely request thi...

Although I have not stayed in the hotel I wanted to give feedback on the lovely Beaufort Dining room as there doesn't seem to be an entry for it on Tripadvisor under restaurants (just the Brasserie). I visited with a friend on a Friday night when there were about 20 other diners. Service was good but as it was quiet it was a little lacking in atmosphere. I feel a dress code in the evening would be beneficial as the Brasserie is available for less formal dining. The food was good as usual (goats cheese followed by lemon sole with langoustine ravioli and I even had enough room for a sweet - capaccio of pineapple. As usual the wines were excellent (half bottle of Puligny-Montrachet). Hope to return later in the year. it is a long walk from the car park especially in the dark (no decent lighting or signage) and in bad weather.

Thank you for your recent review regarding your dining experience in the Beaufort dining room.
We are very pleased that you enjoyed your meal and wine and are only disappointed that the weather was horrible which made your walk unpleasant. We look forward to seeing you soon now the evenings are getting lighter and perhaps the rain will stop for a while.

Stunning hotel inside and out, friendly, attentive staff. Enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in front of a roaring fireplace, perfect on a cold winter's day. We really didn't want to leave this place, I would highly recommend.
