We booked on Saturday afternoon for 1 night on the website (easy to use) purchasing the Lazy Cotworld Sunday Stay. We arrived the next day via train and jumped in a taxi costing about £17. It took 20mins on route the cab driver gave us some historical info about the area.

When we arrived we were greeted and shown in, are room wasn't ready so our cases was stowed away and we were given a tour of the hotel. The building is to a 5* standard, lots of attention to detail. Tonnes of character and antique English hearing charm. Lots of period and contemporary Art work around the hotel.

We had a reservation at the Beaufort Dining room, which was lovely fine dinning experience. (Formal experience) The food and service was excellent. They were very helpful with my husbands dietary requirements. We are not drinkers but the wine list was 5* After lunch we were shown to our room, which was upgraded (FOC) to Classic Double Room. Which inc Four poster bed, walk wet room, separate Toilet and large bath. The room was emaculate, and smelt clean, we were shown all the features of the room. Plus the bathroom was connected to the TV so you can easily listen to TV/radio.

We then made use of the Spa and leisure facilities, the spa includes a high powered jacuzzi, really powerful steam room and sauna. It's very clean it's not a huge space but romantic and intimate. We then took a plunge in the outdoor heated pool which is a perfect sun trap. It was very clean, good size. Not very deep but you can style do some laps. The changing room facilities are great, hair dryer and straighter for the ladies. Very very clean too.

Dinner was in The Brasserie which is more informal, but the service and food is still second to none. Plus lovely cocktails. Again they were very helpful with dietary requirements. The next day we checked out and everything went smoothly, the offer inc lunch dinner and breakfast and stay. Only thing not inc was drinks/alcohol. After checking out we continued to use the facilities. Unfortunately one hiccup which was NOT THE HOTELS FAULT the booked cab didn't arrive so we was going to miss our train to London. The Hotel quickly resolved this by giving use a lift to station in the company Range Rover. The driver was the lovely Hotel Manager who told us all about the restoration and history of the hotel. We made our train on time and was chauffeured in style over all a very happy experience.
We will go back and will recommend, I'm actually booking for my birthday now.

We attended a wedding here last weekend and first impressions on arrival were 'what a stunning venue for a wedding'. The lovely winding driveway, valet parking, gorgeous entrance and outbuildings and the view over Cheltenham racecourse were brilliant.
We had a great day, weather was perfect, the organisation was great, food was good and a perfect wedding day was had by all. We didn't stay at the hotel but stayed at the rising sun just up the hill which wasa perfect place for a few hours kip !!
I think alot of trade is for spa days/wknds and afternoon tea etc but can imagine it's a great experience.
Would recommend for a wedding venue for sure, beautiful country setting and great service.

My husband and I have stayed here twice and both have been great experiences. Both times we went in January so managed to get very good deals, and room upgrades. Our room was massive, with a walkway to the bathroom ... which is the same size as the bedroom! We were going for R&R both times so ordered breakfast in bed both visits ... which meant we could sleep in the comfy bed even longer. Lovely, peaceful, luxurious. Food was good too, nice to have the option of fine dining and brasserie. Fine dining was very good but really expensive and very formal ... we actually preferred the more relaxing atmosphere of the brasserie.

Really recommend this hotel.

Had carefully selected hotels for a trip to london and cotswolds - then realized as we were on the train to oxford that we had messed up our dates and didn't have accommodations for that night. How lucky we were to find this amazing castle-like hotel w/ gorgeous grounds. Our room was
lovely, spacious and in keeping w/ old-style setting, but w/ modern bathroom/appointments. Everyone on staff was extremely helpful, courteous. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you for a lovely stay. Proper 5 star service in a very grand hotel. We had a fabulous afternoon tea in the secret snug above the hall. Wide selection of quality teas and delicious cakes. Our room was lovely, heated marble floor in the bathroom, very well presented room. The breakfast service was second to none and delicious to boot. Valet parking with complimentary bottled water and mints was a nice touch as well. We'll be back. James and Jemma

We stayed at this luxurious retreat during our touring holiday of the UK specifically our anniversary. The grounds and gardens are something special and just invites you to keep walking through them. The room itself was separate from the main building which gave us extra privacy however the downside was that it rained when we wanted to have a meal in the main building so got wet walking to our meals.
The room was luxurious with plenty of space and comfort. Special mention about the bathroom - best ever! The shower was a separate and large room with a glass door, toilet was separate to where the vanity and bathtub and again a large space. Even the toiletries were better quality than what we had experienced.
The only downside was the atmosphere in the two restaurants for breakfast and dinner. Very quiet and lacking in any sort of atmosphere. I can appreciate that they want to provide a higher class of experience but we didn't feel comfortable even having a discussion without being overheard by the whole room! Some background music would help. Staff were great and food was tasty albeit very expensive. Overall, it was a fantastic place to spend our anniversary.

We visited in June 2014 on our honeymoon, we had informed the hotel that it was a special occassion.
Upon arrival we were very impressed by the grounds, the valet service and the reception area in the beautiful old building.

We were then shown to our Luxury room (the top grade of room before you book a Suites) - sadly it was in the newer annex and the room could have been in any decent chain hotel. It was a large room very well appointed, very large bathroom. However, it had none of the atmosphere or charm that we were looking for - and that we expected having seen the gorgeous 15th century main house. I guess we should have been more specific when we booked, or more assertive once we had checked in.

There were no special touches in the room to celebrate the fact it was a honeymoon.

We ate at the Brasserie, which was fine but nothing special.

I'm sure if you get the right room, this hotel is a dream hotel. Sadly it didn't work out for us - and we wouldn't have felt underwhelmed if it hadn't been so expensive. For over £500 for the room and the meal for 2, we really expected a more personal experience.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms not in the newer annex
