Stopped here for the weekend as we wanted a central location for a spot of Xmas shopping.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome to the charming building. Out top floor room was a little on the small side but this didn't really matter. There was a very nice lounge and conservatory if we wanted more space. An honesty box for the bar was rather quaint and lovely.

First class breakfast made freshly to order proved to be a great start to the day.

The town centre was only a 10 minute or so walk into town so ideal and closely located to lots of nice restaurants.

Couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful old building, super lounge, wonderful conservatory and as friendly, professional, family type welcome as you could wish for.

Great value for money and the best hotel breakfast I have ever had (more than 500 in my career).

Yes it is not cheap and the top floor is quite a climb but it is well worth it, 5 minutes from the best shopping area and restaurants, we will definitely be going back.

This is a friendly hostelry offering decent accommodation but quite pricey which may be due to its location one mile from the centre of Cheltenham in the classy suburb of Montpelliers. Room was quite small but clean and very comfortable. The house has a nice lounge where guests can relax and enjoy a glass of whatever from the honesty bar. Stuart Ross

Although the location is ideal for central Cheltenham, The Lypiatt's top floor bedrooms are extremely small and if you are tall you will bang your head on the sloping ceilings! Be sure to check you have enough towels and cups and saucers before your morning shower and early morning coffee and if you have a healthy appetite you will be sorely disappointed with the full English. Sadly we will not be returning.

Room tip: Top floor rooms are very small with sloping ceilings.

This hotel is a period house with an appearance to match. The hallway reception is beautifully decorated although the actual reception appears to a small cupboard. Often no receptionist is on duty but a phone number is provided in case of problems.

The breakfast was outstanding and freshly cooked in a pleasant basement room. The bedrooms were on the whole quite well appointed although there were issues with T.V. reception, a radiator that needed fixing to the wall in the very spacious bathroom. In the main bedroom some of the chairs had seen better days but the room was nevertheless comfortable and clean. Tea, coffee and water were provided in the room as were a supply of biscuits. The hotel lounge area, along with a conservatory were very well furnished and extremely comfortable.

Overall I really couldn't make up my mind whether this was a hotel or a posh B&B and I have to say the price is upmarket and on the expensive side although Cheltenham is not a cheap place to stay.

Room tip: Rooms facing the house car park don't receive as much noise as those facing the nearby busy road
