Owner description: The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is a 13 mile steam and diesel heritage railway in the beautiful English Cotswolds. Visit the GWR stations at Toddington (postcode GL54 5DT), Winchcombe (GL54 5LD), or Cheltenham Race Course (GL50 4SH). Free Parking, and there is so much to do in addition to riding on the heritage trains. There are authentic Great Western Railway stations and well-stocked shops. Catering options include the buffet car on the train, the Flag & Whistle Restaurant at Toddington Station and the 1950s themed Coffee Pot cafe at Winchcombe Station. There is a model railway coach and the Discovery Coach at Winchcombe Station, whilst at Toddington there is a self-guided heritage trail, a children’s play area, a have-a-go signalbox and a locomotive yard viewing area. Check out our website to see the operating days, the train times and the range of this year's special events, both for enthusiasts and for children.

We came here as a family group in early August on a rainy day. We had two young boys with us (2 and 5 years) and seven adults. None of us are railway enthusiasts and we headed here in the hope that it would keep the boys entertained for a few hours.

We were pleasantly surprised. Rides on steam trains, diesels (on which the boys got to operate the horn) and a very nice light lunch made it a really nice way to spend 5-6 hours on a washout day.

I would highly recommend to others.

The staff and volunteers are fantastic too.

This is lovely train journey, a scenic route with a long tunnel (which the kids loved). Make sure you plan your trip well though and perhaps incorporate something to do at one of the stations as £38 is a lot of money for a family for a there and back ride. The station and aboard train facilities for familes are good and it is very well organised.

Whether you like trains or just watching the scenery roll past like us, the Glocs & Warks Railway is a great family day out. When we visited there were steam trains on both services, fresh tea & coffee and homemade cakes and the wonderful scenery to enjoy.

Having lived in Cheltenham my whole life, I never knew this little gem existed. Great day out iwth the kids and very good value for money. The volunteers are all so friendly and transported us back to the days when travel by rail was really enjoyable.

We visited the GWR at Toddington and as always spent an entertaining morning travelling between there & Cheltenham Racecourse. The jewel in the crown for us this time was the recently refurbished Flag & Whistle restaurant. The staff here are friendly, as all the members of the railway are and being coeliac didn't present any problems,.The interior of the restaurant is spotless and the menu quite comprehensive so even if you don't want to ride on a steam train you can be sure of a"nice cup of tea" & more if you are in the area.
