This really is a cracking area of Cheltenham - bars/restaurants, and always busy. Will be back to explore some more.

The Montpellier district is a credit to the people of Cheltenham. The regency architecture is distinctive, the shops, bars and restaurants are a step above the quality seen in the average high street and - with a few minor exceptions - the people I saw were generally more affluent-looking than on most high streets I frequent. Both the Imperial Park and Montpellier Park are ideal places to watch the world go by on a sunny day, which is exactly what happened on my visit on a Bank Holiday Monday recently.
Ps - the avenue at Montpellier, Cheltenham is not quite the same as the square in Montpellier, France but it is nevertheless a very good imitation.

It's a great area with clean and nice structure buildings, located quite close to the town hall. I enjoyed my evening walk and visiting all the cute shops and cafes. You will find lots of vintage boutiques, art and crafts related shops here as well.

Great part of town, even more when combined with Bath Rd - between them they have everything you need, but without the usual chain shops on high streets. Montpellier is relatively expensive, but you get what you pay for and Bath Rd gives you the other side of the coin. Be sure to visit the Suffolks or Tivoli as well, all a maximum of 5 minutes walk from Montpellier

Lots of cute little independent shops / cafes / bars - interspersed but some bigger chains. Head off to the gardens for some rest ....
