Fish soup was great. Husband's meal of pork belly was disappointing, soggy cracklings and veg swimming in butter. My fish in beer batter was lovely

Overall too pricey though

We have visited twice for Sunday lunch and were very happy on both occasions. The veg lacks imagination (carrots and parsnips, I think) on both visits but great for a fiver. Limited choice of puddings but they really are good. Staff and the locals were friendly so no complaints, apart from the veg.

Atmosphere, food and service were excellent. I couldn't recommend a better place for those who would like to eat great quality traditional food in a cosy and laid back setting.

Garden was closed as they had a 'Private Party', so the kids couldn't run around as we'd hoped.
The barmaid was abrupt,NO sparkling water, NO atmosphere , NO other people eating( quelle surprise...you don't have to book as one other review states,)
The Beef was mediocre- overlooked and chewy, the carrots dry and obviously microwaved , the cauliflower cheese bland with , again microwaved cauliflower ...soggy,cold yorkshires that the kids even commented on before we did, oh and to finish, a choice of 2 puds only!! when I asked if I could have a coffee, the barmaid apologised saying the coffee machine had broken and been removed- would I like a cup of instant?...Err ...no thanks! On that note, we quickly departed and went home to have a lovely cuppa in my friend's sunny garden.NEVER AGAIN! shocking roast and shocking service/ food choice.

We took our little grandchildren, and our daughter, to The Wheatsheaf so that we could have a drink while the children played in the garden 'with the sandpits and toys'. The garden was a desert, long grass or dead patches with lots of dead plants. But we had to stop them stepping in all the dog mess ( the pub has two bull terriers who were roaming loose in the garden). Whilst we like dogs and the dogs were friendly - clearly the garden is a health hazard. We won't be going back.
