Stayed here on their spa break offer. Modern and clean hotel with everything you could possibly need. Fantastic but simple spa although some of the treatments are a bit expensive. Definately coming back on another break.

Room Tip: We had a standard room - very big and comfortable bedroom, although the bathroom was smaller than ex...

I stayed in this hotel for one night last week. I came in through the car park side entrance and had to ask kitchen staff where reception was, as there were no signs. 'Reception' turned out to be a man with a laptop stood in the centre of the lobby: very modern.

I was on the first floor, and my first impression was that my room, which overlooked the central courtyard (and which was overlooked by lots of other rooms) was very dark. The lighting seems to be 'minimlist' which is fine if you like that kind of thing, but I like to be able to see what I am doing without having to open the 'nets' and have everyone staring in at me. There was also no mirror in the main bedroom area, apart from one in the wardrobe - the actual bedroom mirror was on a wall next to the front door which was round the corner from the main room so a bit inconvenient for seeing whilst drying your hair!

I was out in the evening with colleagues and when we got back to the hotel at 11, we decided to have a night cap. However the bar was closed and it took a good 10 minutes before it was opened for us (we were all residents) which dampened the mood a bit.

Those gripes aside, the room was very clean and nicely furnished and breakfast was also very good - but this is nothing more than what you would expect for the price. The best thing about The Chapter is its location at the Montpelier end of Cheltenham. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants close by and it is a 10 minute walk to the High Street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, not one overlooking the inner courtyard.

We stayed here for a one night break to relax before our first baby comes along. The Hotel was easy to find with ample parking and only a short walk from the main attractions and restaurants in the city. The feel of the hotel is fantastic with a modern, comfortable and relaxing feel through out. The staff are always happy to help and acknowledged us every time we passed.

We stayed in a feature room, which was big and airy. The beds were very comfortable. Whilst others have said they have had problems with the rooms being too hot our air conditioning worked very well to keep our bedroom at a comfortable temperature.

We ate in the restaurant and the standard and quality of the food was also very high. We did not find it overly slow like others have mentioned. Especially when you could see that everything wsa being freshly made.

Overall a fanstastic stay and we will certainly be going back.

Myself and the Mr stayed here for our wedding anniversary this weekend. We are relatively local and have eaten at the hotel before but never stayed. We booked a feature room and were really impressed; ipod and nespresso machine, free mini bar (though wine would have been nice as well as beer), bath in the bedroom and separate walk in shower and THE most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, gorgeous Egyptian cotton sheets and fresh milk in the fridge not that horrid long life stuff. The air conditioning worked well and the room was spacious and comfortable. We also made use of the spa and had a couples massage. The treatment room was warm and comfortable and we both had a lovely full body massage and relaxed afterwards with water and healthy nibbles in the relaxation room. A lovely end to a lovely stay.
The hotel has been beautifully restored and balances a respectful representation of the hotels past life with a contemporary finish, the staff wear suits with converse trainers and are attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Feature rooms are spacious and comfortable

I stayed in this hotel to visit a friend for her birthday. I only stayed one night, but that one night was brilliant. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was a little small and difficult to maneuver around in but everything was there. I'd definitely recommend this to people wanting to visit the city and who want to stay in comfort and luxury.

Overall, the hotel is lovely. We had a very expensive room and the service was very good.

However, why on earth would you tether an iPod touch, that is offered as an accessory to the wall. Anything we wanted to find out about the hotel we had to stand by the the wall. We had stayed in their sister hotel in Exeter. They offer iPads in the the room that you could actually use anywhere. The mini bar only has beer (which I don't like), unlike in the Exeter hotel that offers wine or allows you to switch out drinks. These are all little things that ate very frustrating when you pay so much for a room.

We stayed for just one night at The Montpellier Chapter, in a 'feature room' in the newest part of the hotel.
The room was very spacious with loads of storage and plenty of thoughtful touches. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. (We were surprised to find the bed had been turned down for us on returning from an evening out.)
Having the large bath and separate shower as part of the bedroom is unusal, but helps with the feeling of space. There is a curtain to split the room if you prefer.

The TV, iPod and Internet options are impressive - not that we used them - and the coffee machine probably makes a great cup of coffee. The drinks in the fridge - which are included in the price - is a nice touch too.

Service in the bar was efficient, friendly but not over bearing. Breakfast was great with great service and high quality food.

All in all, a very impressive hotel and good value for money. We would definitely stay there again.
