We had two nights here in late August and had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. It's well located, being a short walk from the town centre and nearby restaurants and bars.

The hotel has recently been renovated, and it's a great example of a quality modern hotel behind a historic frontage. We had one of the ground floor rooms, and were very pleased with the generous space standards, layout and facilities. The large bath in the open plan room was stunning and romantic. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was lots of storage, including a generously sized mini-bar with complimentary drinks and chocolate.

We failed to get the in room i-Pod playing properly, but I suspect that was our lack of techie-ness, and we didn't follow up with the staff.

We ate in the restaurant one evening and had a good meal there, and enjoyed a pre-meal drink in the lounge area.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stylish place to stay in Cheltenham, both as a perfect base for getting out into the city, and for somewhere to relax and enjoy the quality of the hotel experience.

Stayed here on their spa break offer. Modern and clean hotel with everything you could possibly need. Fantastic but simple spa although some of the treatments are a bit expensive. Definately coming back on another break.

Room Tip: We had a standard room - very big and comfortable bedroom, although the bathroom was smaller than expected and may have been an issue for overweight people. (door opened directly in front of toliet with not much space to manover).

I stayed in this hotel for one night last week. I came in through the car park side entrance and had to ask kitchen staff where reception was, as there were no signs. 'Reception' turned out to be a man with a laptop stood in the centre of the lobby: very modern.

I was on the first floor, and my first impression was that my room, which overlooked the central courtyard (and which was overlooked by lots of other rooms) was very dark. The lighting seems to be 'minimlist' which is fine if you like that kind of thing, but I like to be able to see what I am doing without having to open the 'nets' and have everyone staring in at me. There was also no mirror in the main bedroom area, apart from one in the wardrobe - the actual bedroom mirror was on a wall next to the front door which was round the corner from the main room so a bit inconvenient for seeing whilst drying your hair!

I was out in the evening with colleagues and when we got back to the hotel at 11, we decided to have a night cap. However the bar was closed and it took a good 10 minutes before it was opened for us (we were all residents) which dampened the mood a bit.

Those gripes aside, the room was very clean and nicely furnished and breakfast was also very good - but this is nothing more than what you would expect for the price. The best thing about The Chapter is its location at the Montpelier end of Cheltenham. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants close by and it is a 10 minute walk to the High Street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, not one overlooking the inner courtyard.

We stayed here for a one night break to relax before our first baby comes along. The Hotel was easy to find with ample parking and only a short walk from the main attractions and restaurants in the city. The feel of the hotel is fantastic with a modern, comfortable and relaxing feel through out. The staff are always happy to help and acknowledged us every time we passed.

We stayed in a feature room, which was big and airy. The beds were very comfortable. Whilst others have said they have had problems with the rooms being too hot our air conditioning worked very well to keep our bedroom at a comfortable temperature.

We ate in the restaurant and the standard and quality of the food was also very high. We did not find it overly slow like others have mentioned. Especially when you could see that everything wsa being freshly made.

Overall a fanstastic stay and we will certainly be going back.

Myself and the Mr stayed here for our wedding anniversary this weekend. We are relatively local and have eaten at the hotel before but never stayed. We booked a feature room and were really impressed; ipod and nespresso machine, free mini bar (though wine would have been nice as well as beer), bath in the bedroom and separate walk in shower and THE most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, gorgeous Egyptian cotton sheets and fresh milk in the fridge not that horrid long life stuff. The air conditioning worked well and the room was spacious and comfortable. We also made use of the spa and had a couples massage. The treatment room was warm and comfortable and we both had a lovely full body massage and relaxed afterwards with water and healthy nibbles in the relaxation room. A lovely end to a lovely stay.
The hotel has been beautifully restored and balances a respectful representation of the hotels past life with a contemporary finish, the staff wear suits with converse trainers and are attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Feature rooms are spacious and comfortable
