Stayed this weekend for a "package" which included a "hot oil" massage.

Arrived late on Friday, and after reading the previous reviews on here was expecting to be confused but everything was fine. I was greeted by the staff (in their all star converse's) and check in was really quick and simple. We were shown to our room.

The room was small but clean and functional. The bathroom was large and over the bath had two showers, the "rainfall shower" was really nice but positioned too near the wall as you have to stand where the bath starts to curve up. The complimentary mini bar was great: couple of beers, water, soft drink and one bar of chocolate. Although our room wasn't cleaned the next day our mini bar had been replenished , which was a nice surprise.

Due to our late arrival we decided to order room service. The iPod in the room contained menus and we easily found something to order. Getting someone to answer the phone to take our order took a couple of attempts, but they may have been busy. When the food arrived they had missed one meal, not great but they promptly went back to make it. Our second attempt at room service was a bit strange. We orders off the same menu but were phoned back to be told that we couldn't have our selection and that the iPod menu was out of date!?!

Breakfast was nice on both mornings. You can see one of the chefs cooking in front if you and nothing is swimming in fat. I has a herb, tomato egg white omelette but was disappointed when it arrived as it was just an plain egg white omelette with a grilled tomato with herbs on the side!?!

The treatment rooms in the spa are nice and the therapists were friendly. The "hot oil" massage did not consist of even Luke warm oil and lasted approximately 15 minutes. So wasn't really worth booking the package for it.

Check out was fast and simple again.

The hotel is in a really great location and a very nice building.

Stayed for a night at the end of September having read such glowing reviews here and elsewhere.

Our stay was good, but we missed that extra sparkle or something that makes things memorable.

Rooms are nice but by no means remarkable - we booked a 'superior' which was fine, but pretty tight so i'd hate to have been in a standard which must be very poky. Really good standard of complementary toiletries.

Curious smell of disinfectant throughout the hall / stairs / corridors. Made it feel like a sanatorium.

Cool bar area. Really good selection of interesting spirits. Restaurant is also impressive looking and good menu, but my steak was very underwhelming. iPad wine lists is a nice touch, if a bit gimmicky.

Would go back as it's good value and perfectly OK, but mainly to see if we can locate what all the fuss is about.

I stayed here with my sister for one night in October. The room rate was very reasonible at £125 for a Saturday night. The room itself was small but adequate the bathroom was smart and clean. The bed particularly comfortable. As mentioned here before check -in is done on a laptop in the main lobby...no desks, paperwork etc. It was fast and efficient. The room had a media hub and an Ipod. I managed to play music but could not figure out how to order a sandwich which was frustrating. It is assumed that all people must understand how to use the Ipod which I suppose makes me a bit of a techno dunce. I didn't bother with the room service in the end. It was too much like hard work to find the menu on the Ipod. I wonder does this happen to many people?

Otherwise the hotel ticked all my boxes. Light and airy with modern but tasteful decor in the main areas. A fire with big comfy sofas in the drawing room area. The service was faultless. Food was reasonably priced and good.
I would definitely go back but might ask for assistance with the IPOD.

Very modern hotel, but a bit too cool for us. There is no reception when you enter and therefore a bit difficult to determine who works for the hotel and who doesn't. I really don't understand the benefit of being greeted by a guy in jeans and sneakers who looks like he's just hanging out in the lobby rather than working there. Our deluxe room was very large and the bed was very comfortable, however the room smelled very stuffy, almost like someone had been smoking in there the night before. The bathroom was ultra-modern, but the shower over-flowed into the bathroom. The lighting in the bedroom and in the bathroom was terrible. With all of the lights on at their highest level I could not see enough to put on lipstick. This hotel is trying desperately to be trendy, but it definitely does not work. Breakfast was average - nothing special.

We had a standard double room for just one night. The lobby was empty on arrival, nobody to greet us or carry our bags. Someone appeared and told us our room wasn't ready so off we went to look round Cheltenham. Tip: If they are wearing Converse trainers then they are staff. On arriving back we were told the restaurant was full for dinner unless we wanted to eat at 6pm. Eventually we were sent to our room which was unacceptably tiny and were told there was nothing larger. The bathroom door opened but not fully as it touched the end of the bed.....that gives you an idea of floor space. It was awkward to get into the wardrobe as the bed was so close to it. The bed is close to the door of the room so you hear everyone walking past in the corridor.
The bed was comfortable and we slept well but had to open a window as the room was stuffy. Breakfast was very good, no complaints other than walking past a tray of cooked eggs waiting to be re-heated. This all sounds very negative but I have stayed in enough hotels to know that a warm welcome and a decent sized room goes a long way and for me, this had neither. It aches with coolness and as a result will appeal to some and not others.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room well in advance.

Have taken a few business partners here when they have been over in the UK and the food is very good. I would recomend the steaks and save food for the deserts.
I would like to see the portion sizes slighter larger to warrent the cost of the meals but apart from that a very enjoyable evening.
