Good start with helpful guy at reception, then we had to park the car away from the hotel, as their car park is small.
Musty smell in the stairway and landings, but the room was clean, neutral smell, towels and linen clean and fresh.
Shared bathroom very basic, but also clean and functional. As it is shared, some hooks to hang your clothes or robe on would be handy.
After a walk round the town, returned for a shower and change, and found loads of flies in the room. No idea why, informed the staff, who said that when the manager returned, they would see about some fly spray. None materialised.
Telly was stuck on radio only, the remote was incorrectly programmed, but the staff didn't seem inclined to deal with that either.

Room Tip: Doubt that t here is one....

We had made a booking and paid for a room but got a phone call from reception saying they don't actually have the room available... However, they found a solution and have upgraded us to a nice one bedroom flat in some other building near by! the flat was very clean and nicely furnished.

Beware of the parking, they have limited parking spaces. You can find two parking spaces somewhere near the hotel; you have to pay for one, the other parking space is free but the gates get locked during the night so if you would need access to the car first thing in the morning, it could be a problem.

Room Tip: Note that we didn't actually stay in the Central Hotel but rather in another building/hotel so the room review, cleanness, etc relates to the flat they upgraded us to.

Reception is not much. A man at a table with a wall of keys. But we got upgraded to 3 apartments! (12 people).
Not going to lie, the info was a bit lacking - "here's 7 keys. The rooms are in the same block, by the way there not here. Turn right then right then left then right.....!"

But when we arrived they were really lovely!! 5 beds in each with a double/twin per room so we weren't cramped, stunning lounge diner kitchen & all had balconys. There were massive TVs too but we weren't there long to test things.

The rooms came with towels and kitchen ware too.

Only downside was the 10am kickout!

BEWARE DON'T STAY HERE! Booked there today and Hated it, Wouldn't let an animal sleep there let alone a human, Smelly damp rooms, T.V only channels 1-5, bed is as hard as sitting on wood, owner refused to give me and my girlfriend a refund as she said we already had a cuppa coffee (might i add it was in plastic cups) and room service wouldn't be able to get the room in order in time, she was just trying to make up excuses... Horrible views, flies in room, Dull decor, Horrible attitude from staff talking to us sarcastically, We paid and left within a couple of hours, Only good thing about this hotel was the location... Id rather walk home then stay there, CRAP! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!

Room Tip: DONT GO HERE, pay that bit more for holiday inn, at least there the staff dont talk to you like crap

I've stayed here twice now. Once in their apartments and once in the central hotel.
The staff on reception were lovely and so helpful. The location is very central so expect noise at night but that's what you must learn to expect staying central anywhere.
The rooms both times were spacious and comfortable, included a clean bathroom, 32 inch flat screen tvs and onsite parking.
The only thing that needs to be improved are the windows not being able to stay open in the triple room on the 3rd floor, room 10 I think it was. We had to put something between the window and the window sill to keep it open.
Other than that, people writing bad reviews must be really hard to please. This is a great choice for a night or two when using it as a base to visit the Cotswolds and Bristol. I would defiantly recommend staying here.

We'd like to inform you that we have been looking into the windows and are seeking advise on what we are and are not allowed to do and this is a listed building. We are always looking to improve any aspect of our guests stays and your points have been noted and are being acted upon. It's lovely to have such a positive review. We look forward to your return!
