What a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We joined other members of the family for a 18:00 meal at a reserved table well laid and pleasantly lit. The welcome from the staff was really friendly, that friendliness was carried on throughout the evening. The menu had a good variety of choice, each of us could have chosen 2 to 3 things of each section and we all enjoyed the choice we made which was substantial without being excessive, well cooked and well presented. The price for our mains, desserts and drinks was good value. All in all an experience which we will be happy to repeat in the not too distant future.

Thank Will M

Old world pub, nice atmoshere.Excellent menu.Very attentive staff.Considering what was on offer I didn;t think the prices were excessive. Not many pubs of this calibre where you can get a nice bottle of wine for under £15.The steak pie is a winner.Shall be going again soon

Had a lovely surprise when hubby told me to choose a place for my birthday lunch. Had always wanted to try House in the Tree. We turned up with no reservation but that was no trouble for the friendly and welcoming staff. Seated in a nice secluded spot. I opted for the beer battered fish with chips and mushy peas. It was more like a whale and really delicious. Hubby had the duck wraps and chips. He was a little disappointed with this but did not say anything till we left as did not want to spoil the lunch. We went for the sharing platter for dessert, which was lemon meringue pie, sticky toffee pud and raspberry brulee. It came out and had a sparkler and added bonus of 2 scoops of ice cream. lovely surprise and all puds were delicious and had to fight hubby for the toffee sauce!!! Would highly recommend a visit, lovely friendly staff and promptly served even though it was full.

We decided to go for lunch as now we are retired we prefer to eat a big meal at that time in the day. We booked in advance - just as well as it was very busy.
The food choices are good - especially the Fish Platter which is absolutely delicious. A shame this is not on the evening menu.
The service was ok although we did have to wait a while for the food. The waitress had limited knowledge of the food as it was only her second shift which was a little disappointing.
We were too full to have a dessert especially as they looked large! Maybe next time a starter and a dessert would be a sensible option.

Thank Anne B

Visited on a Monday for lunch and was glad we had booked a table beforehand as the restaurant was very busy. Extremely attentive staff without being over the top, good beer, and varied menu. Presentation and flavours excellent. Will definitely visit again if in the area. If only I had a local nearby as good as this pub!
