“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

Had a really nice afternoon here. Food is great, good value and well presented. Staff are really attentive and professional. Sometimes these chains can feel a bit predictable but the staff here make all the difference. We will return!

“Great Local Pub - Good Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

A great local pub with a hard working and friendly landlord and wife.
Good food at reasonable prices, especially in the daytime.
Live music from time to time - free entrance
Have used the Hatherley many times in recent months including News Year Eve (a very nominal entrance fee - which included live music and an excellent buffet).
I recommend without hesitation.

“A BIG IMPROVEMENT ON THE PREVIOUS VERSION!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

I'd heard good things about the fairly major refurbishment that the pub had recently. I was not disappointed. The pub looks great, all one room now rather than the bits and pieces it was before. Nicely done up and inviting. There were 4 of us and we were all very impressed by the pretty extensive menu. There were quite a few deals including 2 of the selected mains for £8.95 which seemed terrific value. Having said that, the whole menu was very much on the less expensive side anyway. At least a couple of quid less than equivalent menus elsewhere. We went for a real mix of meals, steak baguette, hunters chicken, tower burger and chicken in peri peri sauce. When they arrived the portions were absolutely huge! More importantly, however, the quality was really high for a pub grub menu. The steak was proper steak, the burger had a full breast of southern fried chicken as well as a quarterpounder and the other 2 meals were equally well received.A couple of soft drinks each and the bill average just £10 each, so superb value. Staff were friendly and attentive too. The only problem was the pub was almost empty on a Saturday lunchtime, so the experiment of removing the pool tables and big screen TV for football has not taken off just yet. If more people at least try it out though, I'm sure the business will build steadily.
