Really nice ‘event’ dining with friends , taster menu served and explained course by course ... great flavours , great presentation ... last course could be a little bigger

Thank Jason B

My wife and I had dinner whilst in Cheltenham for the weekend and were supremely impressed with Bhoomi.
The food was fantastic in terms of presentation, taste and quality. The service was exceptional, attentive without being overbearing.
We would not hesitate to recommend a visit and will definitely be coming back.

We went along to Bhoomi as a group, some had been several times, others less often or not at all. We had booked - just as well on a Friday evening as it was full. Decor was dark but relaxing; service attentive and professional. We had a side room to ourselves. We had previously opted for the tasting menu. All the food was high quality, and given the number of courses the portion sizes were appropriate. This all adds up to 5 stars. The only downside was the time it all took - long gaps between dishes. A couple of our group needed to get back but it was hard to speed things up. Someone else found the reality of a tasting menu a bit too much in terms of quantity. Still 5 stars but something to be aware of in a larger group with set choices.

Took a couple of friends on Wednesday night, excellent food and the service a cut above normal. The staff were very helpful and courteous, especially Daniel, who took time to explain the wines and each dish as it arrived. Lovely experience, one I would definitely recommend.

I treated a couple of friends to dinner at Bhoomi to celebrate a birthday in June 2017. The building which was previously a Chinese restaurant has been refurbished to a high standard, albeit a little 'blingy'!

When we arrived we sat in the reception area and had an aperitif while we studied the menu, we were told our table was ready. After a few minutes our drinks were taken and we assumed we were to go to our table - but no - we were taken through into a small hallway about 10 feet away and asked to sit again - quite bizarre. This apparently was the waiting area (our table was ready!) and we were presented with beverage lists and encouraged to order more drinks.

Eventually (having skipped the drinks offer) we got to our table, the menu had a good balance of dishes and we ordered from the alacarte. The wine selection was varied and had some complimentary choices for what is always a difficult partnering with spicy food.

Selections made and wine poured the food was of a high quality and presentation imaginative. The beef was a particular favourite.

The key to a good dinner experience for me is the balance of service/ ambience/ taste and value. At Bhoomi the service is over attentive but for the wrong reason. Your wine is continually topped up and the waiter repeatedly asking 'would you like another bottle?' This is very annoying and slightly embarrassing when one is treating friends. We left with the impression that everything was done to generate more profit rather than to enhance the dining experience.

When a restaurant positions itself in this area of the culinary marketplace, it is comparing itself to the other players in the game, and there are two other players in Cheltenham who do it much better!
