Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review regarding Premier Inn Cheltenham Central. I have passed your comments on to the team. We are not in the centre of Cheltenham but there is an extremely good bus service that runs every 10 minutes during the day and we can book taxis for you if you need them. The nearest bars and restaurants are just over one mile walk and the town centre approximately 1.5 miles. I am sorry about your breakfast experience and have passed your comments onto TGI Fridays’ manager.
Kind regards

One of the best we've stayed in, surely it has just been refurbished? Layout of rooms ideal, super bathroom fittings, wall-mounted TV (could have taken it home!). As usual excellent beds and comfort. We had had a stressful few days selling our home so this was bliss! Staff couldn't be more helpful, once again as usual. Just one point, the hotel has been built next to a railway line, consequently, its important to ask for a room at the FRONT of the hotel. Thank God its Fridays is the associated restaurant, also a plus

Room Tip: Definitely front of the hotel

We've never stayed in Cheltenham before so we chose this PTI with some assurance of what to expect. My local football team were playing an away match at Cheltenham Town FC on the last Sunday afternoon fixture of the season so we booked well in advance to stay overnight into Monday - and to hopefully see a bit of the town too whilst we were in that part of the country. So far then, so good.

We got into town around 12 noon and were able to check in to the PTI there and then - so that was handy for us. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the railway line which did concern us a little given other reviews here. However, we did in fact sleep soundly but that's probably in part to a few celebratory victory beers in town after the match following a day out in the cold fresh air. More likely a truth was the bad weather most of the country had endured over that weekend meant services may have been heavily cut back in the resultant disruption. One mans loss, etcetera.

The room was clean and tidy enough. I see they've stopped supplying the little packs of biscuits you used to get and ripped out the phones and replaced them with a card inviting you to use your own phone. Hey PTI, put them back as an optional extra and maybe I'll pay you another 20p on a room for the night!

Got over to the TGI Friday for our breakfasts at 10 minutes past 9 and was informed by the waitress that breakfasts had finished. It's nothing to with PTI though as TGI Friday is apparently a separate entity. Fair enough.

The TGIF restaurant was almost empty with a couple of folk presumably finishing their own breakfasts. I looked behind me in vague expectation of seeing starving thousands of rib rack deprived punters eagerly slathering and queuing, waiting with knives and forks at the ready in order to rush the restaurant the moment it opened. Its a Monday morning in the middle of winter and the rain is beating up the car park in stair rods. Its also deserted as far as the eye can see.

PTI have cut back on biccies to save 20p..... TGI Friday on the other hand are turning paying punters away from an empty restaurant. The world has indeed gone to hell in a handcart.

"Here it's always Friday" it says. Er no, correction: - "Here it's always a Sunday in 1965, its gone 3, this pub has called time and its now firmly shut.

Thankfully PTI refunded me the £14 I had paid upfront with a minimalist shrug and no hassle. I've no issues with them, we paid a fair price and got pretty much as we expected.

Armed with the refund, we went to The Moon under Water (it's a Wetherspoons, love 'em or loath 'em - but this is one of the better ones) on 16 - 18 Bath Road, about a mile away. Postcode GL53 7HA. Paid £1.40 to park in the corporation car park next door and got 2 lattes and 2 full English breakfasts in the spoons for well under a tenner. So I saved myself well over £1.60 on the deal - enough to buy a whole packet of custard creams - and got some change with it too!

A win - win situation indeed. Hey TGI - RTAW - read this and weep. TGR. Then Get Real.

Room Tip: Go for an upper floor car park side. Say 59

Thank you for taking the time to review us. The train line is close and can disturb some guests but the passenger service does stop at 10.30pm. Please feel free to ring us before your next visit to request a quieter room at the front of the hotel. We will endeavour to fulfil your request. Please call me direct if you did not get a full refund under our Good Night Guarantee my number is 01242 260103 or email on operationsmanager.cheltenhamcentral@whitbread.com. We've stayed here three times now and will still keep coming back. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spotless and comfortable. The only downside is the potential noise of the railway if your room is allocated to the rear of the hotel. On our two previous visits we didn't hear the railway line at all. Overall thanks for a lovely stay.

This is a very clean, well maintained Premier Inn. Stayed here twice in the last 2 years. Easy 10 min bus ride into Cheltenham - bus stop right by the hotel. Railway at the back - ask for quieter rooms at the front.
