My husband and I stayed here for nine nights in June 2012 in a family room with our two pre-school children. As we'd expected from reading other reviews, we found the owners are undertaking a modernisation and refurbishing programme and it appears to be proceeding well. If you are prepared to overlook some furnishings that haven't yet been tackled then this hotel offers a much more personal level of customer service than a chain hotel equivalent. The building is beautiful and the location is excellent. What the interior decor currently lacks is more than made up for by friendly staff and good food. We all enjoyed the cooked-to-order breakfasts, especially the golden-yellow scrambled egg, and evening meals were also a success with children and adults alike.
On several occasions my children and I took advantage of the hotel being within easy walking distance from Cheltenham's shopping centre and many cafes and restaurants. It's also conveniently located for Pittville Park and The Brewery, where we were impressed by the "Play Farm" soft play. We would happily return to this hotel for its friendly service and convenient location.More
