“Very nice atmosphere and convenient location”
Reviewed 6 June 2013

We stayed three nights at Cotswold Grange and enjoyed the hospitality, nice food and atmosphere. The location is in one of the best living areas of Cheltenham and very central with only 15 minutes walk to the town centre.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our way back up north from Bristol. I found the hotel on the Internet and I have to say we were a little disappointed when we checked in, but I think we just had high expectations from the photographs on the website. We were aware that the family rooms were of a more traditional decor and ours was, so we can't really complain on that. The king size bed was huge and very comfortable and the bunk beds were ok. Our teenage kids thought the 'sun shine' lights were hysterically funny. I think younger children would have been more appreciative! The bathroom was ok, but had a very dated look. Plenty of hot water and complimentary toiletries, so again nothing much to complain about. We all slept very well, it was not noisy and our room had a nice view at the back of the building. Breakfast was very good. We were served by the owner who was friendly enough, but was obviously busy so didn't have time to chit chat or give us any information on the local area. It would have been nice if she had stopped to chat to the guests more. There was plenty of choice on offer and we were asked whether we wanted tea, coffee, toast etc. All in all, we would probably return but maybe book into the newly refurbished rooms. The hotel is in a great location and it is a nice 20 minute walk into town.

Room Tip: Remember that not all of the rooms have been refurbished, so please don't be too disappointed if...

we stayed here for 1 night only , at the weekend for a short break . the staff were welcoming . After finding our room on the first floor the door was difficult to open with the key!, The room was basic , quite small but adequate for our needs .The bathroom was needing updating . the bed , comfortable but had a very warm tog rating duvet , not nesessary for summer, plenty pillows provided. large LCD tv , nice mirrored wardrobe . tea/coffee making provided . a rocker chair (old fashioned). we most likely wouldnt stay here again as its not the best price for what you get and we have stayed at other hotels in this area . The breakfast was usual fare . we were very surprised that the walls were thin , being an old house , we could hear next door occupants!

Room Tip: we stayed at the front , sunny room

this hotel is ok for one night but not any more, the bedrooms are very noisey as the walls are paper thin and you can here everything going on in the next room, and i do mean everything,
the food was exceptable, but the worst thing we found with this hotel was the ant problem they had in the front porch, the walls were covered in them, sorry but we would not use this hotel again

Room Tip: we were in a middle room not advisable as guest on either side

Our Stay was for one night only, over the Bank Holiday weekend.

After a friendly greeting we were pleasant surprised to find a Clean, Comfortable room.

Maybe some would find the furnishing a little old fashioned / basic but for me it suited my needs and we both thought the Hotel to be quite charming, Staff friendly and welcoming.

The Hotel is of the Regency style like many of the properties in that part of Cheltenham.

We could have had dinner in the Hotel but since it was a lovely sunny evening decided to try our luck in Cheltenham Centre , which is close-by. We wish we would have stayed in the Hotel as the Town Centre leaves much to be desired and looks to be in decline.

The full English breakfast was very good, and portions plentiful, so full marks there.

Overall a good Hotel, to suit the cost conscious traveller.

The hotel is located in an attractive residential road amongst other large period properties and is conveniently situated, a short walk from the town. We had a compact, modern bedroom with excellent facilities and a comfortable bed, the room was kept immaculately clean. We ate in the hotel and the menu caters for all tastes, the food and wine choice are excellent. The breakfast includes a choice of most fresh fruits and a generous portion of cooked breakfast. We could have taken advantage of a nearby fitness centre and swimming pool but unfortunately time did not permit. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and would definitely like to return.

I stayed at this hotel last night. If I had stayed any longer than 1 night, I would have complained and asked for another room.

I booked a single room and fully expected a small room but my room size was ridiculous. I could almost touch both walls without moving my feet.

The room was very dated; window did not shut properly, only a small skylight window, rain during the evening kept me awake, one of the lightbulbs was not working (this should be a basic room check in every hotel), electrics where from the late 1970's, TV was smaller than the computer monitor I use at home etc.

Admittedly, the room was clean and the staff were reasonably helpful (except for explaining the breakfast arrangements which resulted in me not taking the breakfast option) but I did not enjoy my visit and I would not return again or recommend to anyone else.

If a hotel is rated as 4 Star then it should be 4 Star for EVERY guest, not just 4 STAR for a couple of their most expensive rooms.

This is a glorified, clean, B & B, not a 4 Star hotel.
