What an interesting time we had here. Melissa is a wealth of information regarding the house and the exhibit. Well worth a visit before it closes!

“A worth while experience for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Melissa who is curator of this Museum is very welcoming and so enthusiastic. Answered all our questions and made everything so interesting. The Museum itself is a wonderful collection giving a great overview of what took place both in the hospital in Cheltenham and World War I itself. Thoroughly recommend that people visit before it closes. Should be moved to a permanent exhibition.

“A World War 1 experience for all to enjoy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

It is no coincidence that the previous 3 reviews all mention Melissa the lady who created the museum and welcomes visitors to it. She brings it to life and involves young and old in the stories found amongst the exhibits, which are very much 'hands on' pieces. To gain entrance you need to phone her from the front door of the beautiful house located only a short walk away from Montpelier, although there is plenty of parking available at the museum. The owners of the house lent it to the government for use as a hospital during WW1 but many of the rooms have kept their original fine decorative features from when it was first built. For £3-75 for adults and £10 for a family group there was a surprisingly large amount to see and do.

Melissa the curator of this exhibition is very interesting and enthusiastic. Lots of artefacts displayed in an interesting way. Worth the short walk from the top of Montpelier.

“World War 1 in Cheltenham”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2014

Melissa Webb the curator and explainer deserves a medal, having put together this wonderful collection of items in an utterly appropriate location. Her enthusiasm shines through and it is wonderful to be allowed/encouraged to handle items. All local teachers should be advised to visit to ensure that young people know what this anniversary is all about. And trigger some memories for the rest.

Not easy for those with mobility problems there are lots of stairs, but well worth the effort. And only £3.75 per person.
