we visited cheltenham last week to attend a work chirstmas party. we had a warm welcome from the reception staff and found our room warm and spacious with a fantastic bed with top quality linen. The hotel was busy with christmas parties but were still able to get a drink at the bar before we left for the party. breakfast was very good, however still bing full from the night before went fo the lighter option of fresh fruit and cereal. had a great stay as always with the hotel du van chain and will definatly be back.

we stayed at this hotel for a Christmas works party,on arrival I sat in lobby with luggage whilst hubby found parking!! staff were pleasant and helpful.
Eventually we were taken to our room which was very good, lovely big bed with egyptian cotton sheets, small hand sinks were useless, shower was a pleasant monsoon when wanted which was fab, As we arrived earlier than planned so ordered afternoon tea in the bar which although a little late and I had a cracked teacup, was excellent.if a little pricey
we adjourned to our room to prepare for the evening meal
.the meal itself was typical of a Christmas corporate do- so choice was limited and a little over fussy but prepared well.
at the end of our meal we were moved from the bistro to a small side lounge which was freezing cold and the seating was not as comfortable or socially appealing so our party dwindled home or to their rooms very quickly .
I did not sleep well due to the noise of the air conditioning in spite of the very comfortable bed
we had a full english breakfast before our departure which was good if a little tardy in its arrival

We hired the main suite so that we could have our son and his girlfriend back for champagne after his graduation. The suite has been updated since our last stay and is now better value for money as the shabbiness has gone. As usual, bed, linen, furnishings are all high quality. We had a very comfortable night. We also all dined in the restaurant as part of our celebration and the meal was of good quality and the service spot on. All in all another great experience from Hotel du Vin.

Room Tip: Do not book a room above the bar or restaurant if you are a light sleeper. The rooms at the back ar...

Booked a weekend stay at short notice on the day of arrival. Arrived tired, stressed and ready for serious relaxation. Room and corridors on lower basement floors freezing cold. Had a relaxing massage which was lovely but steam room broken and it wasn't a spa as such, just a couple of treatment rooms.

Went to lovely bar but couldn't sit anywhere as full of external customers having Christmas parties. Tried to eat in restaurant but again no space for same reason. Bolshy reception lady unempatetic and told us she could maybe find us a restaurant elsewhere in Cheltenham - rather missing the point that we didn't want to leave the hotel and should have been warned of this when we booked.

Situation rescued well by lovely reception lady called Jen who got us a table in the restaurant and bought us a drink. Food very good and her service excellent for the rest of the weekend.

All in all. Average. Bad start but recovered nicely!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful stay here, just one night but wanted to stay more. Surprise birthday treat that went really well. Great food, superb room, fabulous bed, helpful staff ... even free car parking right outside (compare Birmingham!) and Cheltenham a wonderful, relaxing place to wander around with its mass of Georgian buildings, cafes, small interesting shops (more so than Harrogate). Very relaxing and good value with the bed breakfast evening meal deal. Brilliant!

Room Tip: We chose 'executive' which was absolutely superb and would have been ideal for a longer stay...

I stayed at the Hotel du Vin, Cheltenham in early Dec 2012 with my wife to celebrate my birthday. We had a Junior Suite with 2 roll-top baths and a VERY large double walk-in shower. The hotel was excellent, the staff helpful and the location was ideal, just 2 mins walk to the Montpellier area and 5 mins into Cheltenham centre. We didn't find the bar too pretentious, some of the staff were wearing t-shirts. Although a little pricy, well worth it for a deserved break.

My wife and stayed on Saturday and Sunday nights and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We weren't able to shop around for a deal so it was quite an expensive weekend! However, the hotel was fabulously situated, close to town. This is a great place to relax, which we took full advantage of. A few minor quibbles would be that I would have expected fresh flowers in the public areas of a hotel of this stature and the room TV was a bit poor. Personally, I really liked the bath in bedroom idea although my wife was less enthused. Dinner was excellent on both nights and breakfast was more great. The general level of service was brilliant, really like-able staff. I would go there again but look for a better deal .....
