Having just returned from a weekend at Elmwicke I can honestly say that we had a fantastic weekend!! A lovely big field - very green and plenty of space to kick a ball around. The bonus offer of a cup of tea whilst setting up was very gratefully received - we could not have been made more welcome! There is one shower which was always lovely and hot with a door that definitely locked. There is a toilet block which was spotlessly clean, warm and had nice touches such as nice soap and pretty baskets for spare loo roll and a washing up station. Bags of good fresh, dry wood were available for £2 a bag and the ability to have an open fire in the fire baskets that were provided complimentary really made the weekend - excellent for marshmallow toasting! Elmwicke can provide dinner and breakfast baskets with locally sourced meat. We pre-ordered a dinner basket for the Friday evening and we were not disappointed! Lovely fresh steak burgers, pork sausages, lamb chops, fresh salad, bread rolls and the most amazing homemade Victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries - complete with plates, cutlery and condiments. We ate out the 2nd night at the local pub which although a bit of a walk along the bridleways - is well worth it as the food is great at the Gloucester Old Spot. In summary, if you are looking for good quality camping as it should be.....Elwicke is for you!! We would love to return.
