Elmwicke Campsite

Having just returned from a weekend at Elmwicke I can honestly say that we had a fantastic weekend!! A lovely big field - very green and plenty of space to kick a ball around. The bonus offer of a cup of tea whilst setting up was very gratefully received - we could not have been made more welcome! There is one shower which was always lovely and hot with a door that definitely locked. There is a toilet block which was spotlessly clean, warm and had nice touches such as nice soap and pretty baskets for spare loo roll and a washing up station. Bags of good fresh, dry wood were available for £2 a bag and the ability to have an open fire in the fire baskets that were provided complimentary really made the weekend - excellent for marshmallow toasting! Elmwicke can provide dinner and breakfast baskets with locally sourced meat. We pre-ordered a dinner basket for the Friday evening and we were not disappointed! Lovely fresh steak burgers, pork sausages, lamb chops, fresh salad, bread rolls and the most amazing homemade Victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries - complete with plates, cutlery and condiments. We ate out the 2nd night at the local pub which although a bit of a walk along the bridleways - is well worth it as the food is great at the Gloucester Old Spot. In summary, if you are looking for good quality camping as it should be.....Elwicke is for you!! We would love to return.

Room Tip: The far side of the field is a bit quieter but most campers set up on the bridleway side.

A family run campsite with 1 big field, where you could pitch up anywhere. Very basic ammenties with unisex toilets and 1 shower. (When i looked i couldnt find a lock on the shower door, and didnt feel comfortable to use it as i didnt want a stranger walking in on me!)
Campfires we allowed for a small fee for the firewood and the family prepared the bag of wood and brought it over to your tent!
You do have to drive to places and i think the closest pub would be about a 20 min walk along a country lane.
Although very basic, i still really enjoyed my stay and they are a hard working family who are happy to help and even offered their homemade perry to all the campers who were staying
