“Amazing !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

This restaurant upon first appearance is a little strange. Mainly for the entrance and layout. However, the staff are well training, polite, attentive and extremely well educated in the food that is being served. This helps me to give the 5 stars that this restaurant deserves.

Having said that, this food is not for the mass market because of its originality.

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary meal, and I so was pleased that we chose this restaurant. The only thing I would say is that there is no background music, so if the restaurant is not busy you can feel a little guarded. However, once we chatting to the waitresses this soon changed.

“Wonderful evening”

Recently had the great pleasure to eat at Lumiere. We were treated to some very special culinary ideas, beautifully presented and delicate. The dessert was to die for. Not cheap, but worth every last penny.

“Delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

So glad we came here on our recent visit to Cheltenham, we did manage to walk straight past it as it is not that obvious with the sign being vertical on the wall, but we found it in the end. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Lovely menu and well prepared food. Canapés of pork scratching and apple sauce and cheese scone both delicious. Then a corn velouté with puffed potato again lovely. Then the starter, we all had scallops with belly pork, succulent pork and beautifully cooked scallops. The main course was rabbit that looked lovely, my dish was Looe stone bass, delicious with a hint of curry spices, mussels and beautifully cooked veg. A pre-dessert of mead wine jelly, gooseberry foam, bee pollen and cracknel. My least favourite dish(I left most of it) my dining companions quite liked it. Dessert was good plum soufflé and blackberry and apple crumble the latter being me favourite. The cheese plate was also good. £55 for the 3 courses, plus the extras whilst not cheap was good value as the quality was extremely good. Hope to go again on our next Cheltenham visit.

“Perfect for a special occasion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

My husband and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is quite small and cosy but is well decorated and had a nice atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

On arrival and after our drinks were ordered we were offered two separate plates of delicious amuse-bouches (pork scratching with apple sauce, chees scone with cream cheese and coulis and corn froth with wild garlic for me and with smoked eel for my husband) as well as a selection of warm brioches (fig, cepe and truffle, parmesan and spinach). For starters my husband had trout whilst I had scallops with belly pork. Our main courses were rabbit and lamb, both of which were absolutely delicious and very rich in flavour. We were too full for desserts and opted instead for coffee. This came with a selection of petits fours (salted caramel, honeycomb, turkish delight and mango marshmallow).

The price was expensive but reasonable considering the amazing standard of food and service. This is the best restaurant we have dined at so far in Cheltenham and compares very favourably with some of the Michelin starred places I've visited.

“Best place in Cheltenham!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

We've eaten here twice now and the food has been exceptional both times. There is clearly a more recognised place in Cheltenham (which is also great) but the atmosphere in Lumiere is more relaxed but the food just as good! We now travel especially to eat here - it really is that good :)
