“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Golden Cross Inn, I stayed here for two nights. Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and informative as to the arrangements and sorting breakfast.

The room was adequately equipped and had a warm and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice, all cooked to order with fresh coffee.

Location-wise, I couldn't have asked for more! It's almost in the centre of the town and was perfectly placed to be a base whilst I was up there.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a central place to stay (and a decent pub) and would definitely stay there again.

We stumbled on this location one lunchtime. As total strangers to Cirencester we had no prior knowledge. We popped in for a lunch and both had home made mac and cheese with salad, garlic bread and a cuppa.

We were about the first to arrive but it quickly gained numerous other customers. I noticed one couple with a baby who had some food heated up for the infant by the chef. Nice touch.

Served up in fairly quick order lunch was delicious, home made and filling. For a snack half as much would have been sufficient its but better to have too much than not enough!

The bar was well stocked with real ale but as I was driving I abstained.

Situated within sight of the church at the town centre and in an area with lots of interesting little shops and arcades, it's well worth checking out. If ever we return to the area, we'll be back.

Place was OK but could be better! Ran out of some food, pub was very noise until 1-00am so difficult to speak and room a bit tired and bathroom not particulary clean especially on the window ledge with empty shower gel bottle.
biggest problem was breakfast , we were told it was served from 8-30am , got downstairs with some other guys but chef knew nothing about the breakfast, said it has happened again , could rustle up something what would we like but have to phone owner first! Decided to go elsewhere , fleece , which was same cost but so much more organised with a great choice!
Sorry guys not quite got there yet.

If you enjoy a friendly atmosphere, the pub pooch walking around welcoming everyone who comes through the door- then drop in and enjoy a drink at The Golden Cross - the choice of wine was good and the variety of beers was exceptional. We didn't eat on this occasion - but upon checking the menu choices, it is well worth another visit. Franklin, the pub pooch is adorable and very well behaved - he is a great addition to the ambiance of the pub. Pop in and make a new friend while enjoying a drink.

we stayed at the golden cross on 7-9-13 for my nieces wedding, the hotel is about 70 metres from the church which was fantastic.the family room which we stayed in was very clean and spacious, the welcome we received was very good and informative regarding parking the car,
when we got back from the reception we sat and had a drink and a chat with some locals which was enjoyable. the breakfast in the morning was great and we all left the table with full tums.
all in all an excellant stay and if we are in the area again we would definately stay at the golden cross again

I reserved the family room for a 2 night stay. When we arrived a little later then the time we said we were welcomed by a staff member who help us find a car park and showed us up to our room he was full of smiles all the time we were there and always had time to chat. Our room was Fantastic, very clean, bright and the beds were wonderful, the bathroom was very big and lovely to use. There was tea and coffee in the room and plenty of it. We used the restaurant and the food was fantastic the staff there were just as nice. The owner made us feel very welcome and a very nice place to not only eat but drink as well. We would and will be going again.
