So glad we decided to stay the night here, the room was very nicely appointed, although small it had everything you needed and was very comfortable. Clean and reasonably priced. ( free wifi too) The staff were very friendly and helpful, wish we could have stayed longer. Certainly would go back.

I have been to this pub for dinner before and was passing through again in January 2014 and so enquired about staying over. We had a choice of rooms and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. We went to the pub in the evening and the staff were attentive and the food was fantastic. Breakfast was superb. Highly recommended!!!!

Room Tip: We had the choice between a bath or shower and chose the shower which was brand new in newly decorat...

We held our wedding reception at the Thames Head and stayed there the night before and after the wedding after our original venue fell through. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us. The pub, function room and accommodation are all stunning with a relaxed but beautiful look. Nicola and her team could not have been more accommodating. Nicola anticipated everything we needed and knew what we wanted better than we did ourselves. To be in her hands took all the pressure off planning the day.

The food served was stunning and ridiculously modestly priced. The staff, especially Nicola and Jaimie, were so pleasant and professional with such an easy going attitude that both of us, and our guests, all felt like part of the family by the time we left. I could not imagine a better set up or a better place to hold a wedding reception. Three months later and we are still getting compliments on our choice of venue, although to tell the truth, once we visited the Thames Head, there was no choice but to secure our booking.

Thanks Nicola...

Room Tip: All the rooms are stunning and open into a closed courtyard that can be accessed from the function r...

Stopped there today, having been several times. It's popular so you need to get there bang on 12 or the food will take ages as the kitchen doesn't cope well with more than a few tables.

In the past the food has been lovely, but sadly today we were caught up in the middle of large reservations for Christmas parties and therefore the standard of both service and food was really lacking. The garlic mushrooms are wonderful. The steak, kidney and ale pie was a major disappointment. Firstly when is a pie not a pie - the debate of should a pie have sides and bottom and if not, should you be told? There was absolutely no flavour and certainly no ale, the accompanying vegetables took ages to arrive after the pie after our order due to a mix up with the order. We also sat without cutlery for a while. When we mentioned our disappointment, not even an apology. £35 (no drinks or deserts) for two is usually reasonable in this pub. However today it was a major let down. Would I go again? Not sure but certainly would check that no big parties were booked first as I would want to feel as much as a customer as the others. Today I certainly did not get this.

Room Tip: Get there early or you'll end up waiting ages for the food

Lunchtime stop for lunch on the spur of the moment.Good and varied standard quality menu supplemented by a well chosen specials blackboard. From that blackboard I chose salmon with a dill risotto which was absolutely stunning.Good pint of well kept 3Bs cask conditioned ale.Table next to us had the short rib of beef which looked as impressive as my risotto.A definite return soon and such a pleasant change to also have cheery and efficient service.PS,if you are looking for the current source of the Thames,it is close to the nearby Wild Duck pub at Ewen, but that's another story !

called in here after walking 12 miles from source of thames used it as our start point thankyou very much Nicola much appreciated you allowing us to park here ......... pleasant atmosphere in this place well kept tidy clean place and very welcoming, had a few beers which were well kept ales and good quality, we all ate and food was well prepared and of good quality looking around at rest of group i think i chose wrong as i went for the BLT and was dissappointed to find just 1 raher of bacon on each half of my sandwich although very nice could have done with more as it was fresh crusty bread and quite a lot bigger than your average sliced loaf bread, not all that cheap so would have expected at least an extra slice split between the 2 halves......have to say looking at the sausage sandwiches they were crammed to the hilt with good quality sausages which is where my food envy came from .... any hows fine ales to be had here and food quality was also good and we had a good craic with the landlady too was an enjoyable couple of hours
thanks again for putting up with us Nicola cheers !

Stopped here purely by chance on a Saturday afternoon, with 2 small grandchildren. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

like I said, they don't have a children's menu, but will provide an allegedly smaller portion of anything on the menu at a reduced price, although to be honest, the only thing that seems smaller is the price. You'd be hard pressed to tell which was the child's portion.

Food was excellent & beautifully presented.

Can't wait to go back for an evening meal one day soon
