“Good advice and great breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

The owner of this comfortable B&B phoned ahead to book rooms at the next stop on our Thames Path walk, offering good advice for the time of year. Comfortable and really pleasant. A great start to a Thames Path walk.

We stayed for a couple of days to find our legs before walking the Thames Path. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, room was basic but clean, food was good pub fare, and there was generally a good vibe. Good attitude comes from good people, and we were given some valuable assistance when my wife fell ill late at night and the Duty Manager, Chris, drove her to a hospital when taxis became scarce due to wet weather. A simple thing but he helped out when needed. The hotel is a little awkwardly located when travelling by public transport and rooms are a little small when,as a couple, you are luggage-laden, but let's just absorb that when the place has a decent personality.

Room Tip: No real differentiation, just take the key handed to you

We stayed at a local holiday park as a base over the Easter and wanted to go somewhere Saturday evening, we had already booked a place just minutes from where we were staying but we checked with the reception desk for some feedback, only to be told there had been very bad complaints about the place, but recommended The Thames head Inn as first choice. We had the most delicious meal which was Chicken breast not one of those prepared fillets either this was the breast with part wing bone attached with a creamy sauce on a bed of bacon and pea mash, served with fresh vegetables, and it was delicious and plenty of it! This was good home cooked food...so good we decided to book Sunday lunch/dinner for 5.00pm apparently the roasts are available all day until they run out, which was great as we don't particularly like eating a dinner early afternoon, again we were not disappointed and pre-ordered the roast pork with crackling (in case that ran out! ) This place is a little gem and if you want good proper food away from ponsy overpriced burgers and chips then this is the place to eat.

Had yet another Sunday lunch here, we (Lynn & I) and always 2-4 friends had a lovely lunch.
Nicola and Simon really know how to bring people back time after time with outstanding food.
It's not Nouvelle Cuisine, it is a plateful of really good home-cooked food, you need to be hungry to eat here because there is alot to get through. First Class and highly recommended.

So glad we decided to stay the night here, the room was very nicely appointed, although small it had everything you needed and was very comfortable. Clean and reasonably priced. ( free wifi too) The staff were very friendly and helpful, wish we could have stayed longer. Certainly would go back.

I have been to this pub for dinner before and was passing through again in January 2014 and so enquired about staying over. We had a choice of rooms and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. We went to the pub in the evening and the staff were attentive and the food was fantastic. Breakfast was superb. Highly recommended!!!!

Room Tip: We had the choice between a bath or shower and chose the shower which was brand new in newly decorat...

We held our wedding reception at the Thames Head and stayed there the night before and after the wedding after our original venue fell through. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us. The pub, function room and accommodation are all stunning with a relaxed but beautiful look. Nicola and her team could not have been more accommodating. Nicola anticipated everything we needed and knew what we wanted better than we did ourselves. To be in her hands took all the pressure off planning the day.

The food served was stunning and ridiculously modestly priced. The staff, especially Nicola and Jaimie, were so pleasant and professional with such an easy going attitude that both of us, and our guests, all felt like part of the family by the time we left. I could not imagine a better set up or a better place to hold a wedding reception. Three months later and we are still getting compliments on our choice of venue, although to tell the truth, once we visited the Thames Head, there was no choice but to secure our booking.

Thanks Nicola...

Room Tip: All the rooms are stunning and open into a closed courtyard that can be accessed from the function r...
