“A fabulous weekend in an amazing house.”
Reviewed 23 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We stayed here with some friends for three nights last weekend to celebrate birthday.
It's such a fabulous house, very well equipped and beautifully decorated. The ground floor is a grand, open plan space but still feels cosy & welcoming. The kitchen is stunning has everything you could need - we all cooked at various points and it's a very sociable space to hang & drink & chat. All the bedrooms are beautiful but the master bedroom is gorgeous, with another huge terrace to sit out on. This particular house is on one of the smaller lakes and, although there are houses either side, the whole place has been cleverly landscaped so you are not overlooked at all. Plus on this lake, there are no buildings opposite so it's very tranquil & relaxing.
The house has two kayaks so we all had fun boating & swimming from the private jetty. We also used the spa which is a lovely space with great staff.
Caroline is really friendly & helpful. She gave us lots of useful info & left a lovely welcome basket for us all. We highly recommend White Willow Lodge and are planning to come back as soon as we can.

“Glorious weekend in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 11 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We've recently returned from a long weekend at White Willow Lodge and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The property is stunning as is the Lakes by Yoo complex and surrounding area. We had beautiful weather so we really got to see everything in its best light.

Caroline the owner was incredibly helpful both throughout the booking process and in providing recommendations for activities and restaurants during our stay.

The property itself was immaculate and incredibly well kept, the bedrooms in particular looking out across the lake were a real pleasure to wake up in.

We can't wait to revisit and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the property and complex to anyone looking g to stay in the area.

Thanks for a wonderful stay.

“Beautiful surroundings, ashame about the rest!”

On arrival we were amazed, lakes by yoo is beautiful and a great base location. The spa is great although the usage hours are a little inconvenient. Unfortunately for me that's where the good review ends.

The lodge is nicely decorated on first appearances, however when you start to look about it's apparant it has been done on the cheap with lots of Ikea products!

Snug - Nice idea but jad what appeared to be a dog bed, we only realised this when my husband and dad sat on it and became covered in dog hairs. Sky tv is basic preview which was also disappointing.

Kitchen - We had an incident on the first night, my brother in law opened the utensil drawer and it fell out and hit him on the foot, yes we should have reported this on the first night and got lumberd with close to a £500 bill! My father inlaw broke a bowl (unknown to me at the time) so disposed of it and apparantey another was chipped so we've not had to foot the bil for a set of 4 bowls. I would have thought that incidentials such as cups etc would be built into the rental cost.

There was next to no cleaning products, the mop bucket had no inner to drain the mop, we was provided with 1 small disposable cloth and a sponge and a smidgen of surface cleaner. Ther was no tea towels or hand towels. We went to get a shower on the first evening to discover we didn't have enough towels. Housekeeping had to bring some the day after. There was also no handtowels!

The kitchen utensils are in poor condition, particulary the pans.

Bedroom 1 is lovely but the other bedrooms are average at best, one of the bedrooms doesn't even have wardrobes and none have mirrors. I questioned this with the owner who said this was because the bathrooms do, however only 1 bathroom has a plug close enough to use a hair dryer which is a pain when there are 10 people trying to get ready.

We had our 2 year old nephew with us and a dog bowl had been left in the kitchen, whilst it may have been cleaned it's not the best impression.

We had no induction when we arrived, we just collected the key from reception and no check out yet was landed with an hefty bill, there wasn't even any negotitation on the bill!

I would return to the area as there is a nice village and some nice pubs but not to this lodge.

Mandy - thank you for your comments. Of the 150 rentals we have had to stay, you are the first guest to a.) have not been sufficiently happy to give us a 5 star rating and b.) to have caused such damage to the kitchen (pot drawer, fridge bottle rack and crockery) that we have had to have a whole new pot drawer hand built and claim via Trip Advisor for all the damage. We provide a set of bath towels and separate spa towels (i.e. two large towels per guest) and we had the housekeeper bring additional towels and tea towels as soon as you contacted us. We also provide guests with cleaning materials (including a new mop and bucket), a welcome basket of gifts and flowers. A clean dog bowl is left in each of the houses at the Lakes By Yoo, as we want to make guests of all sizes welcome. We have wardrobes/ cupboards in each of the 5 bedrooms, mirrors in two bedrooms and each of the 5 bathrooms. You have a keen eye to note that the wine glasses are from Ikea but the rest of the house is hand built and sourced from a number of high end companies including Porta Romana, Conran etc. Guests are welcomed at the front gate by Lakes By Yoo staff and we provide a detailed induction handbook and our contact number, should you need further help. We work very hard to make the house a welcoming retreat for our guests, and your emails to me had said how "fantastic" the house was. I understand however that no one likes paying for damage (nor do we like asking) but the damage was so significant on this occasion that we had no choice.

“Perfectly stunning, luxurious and tranquil.”
Reviewed 3 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

It was the perfect place to spend time with family and friends. We enjoyed a country walk to a local pub, kayaking on the lake, stunning views from the house and huddling round the fire. We'd go back in a heart beat.

“Gorgeous house and surroundings”
Reviewed 2 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We spent 3 nights at White Willow Lodge in January and fell in love with the house and the surrounding area. The pool in the development is lovely and clean (luckily it was quiet as we were there off season) and the gym is well equipped. The house is impeccably designed, with sumptuous furnishings and well thought out rooms. Caroline the owner was very helpful throughout the process. The kids loved it and keep asking to go back. We will certainly return, frequently!
