We were invited to a friends wedding and since we live some distance away it was necessary to book in for three days and two nights.
We arrived at 5pm after a long drive through some beautiful countryside. We were able to park outside the front door but the other car park is some distance round the back of the hotel. Booking in was easy and we had booked rooms near the lift to facilitate easy access..Our room was nice and airy and looking out of the windows we could see the garden and bar/refreshment area.
Once installed in our bedrooms we went down to meet up with the rest of the many wedding guests. After a few drinks we were raring to go and went for our evening meal at 7.30pm.
Service was good and so was the meal. We the returned to the outside area because it was still very warm and had some cooling drinks before having a late night. The early morning call was on time and nicely personal, coming from the lady on the desk and not a recorded message...
We went down for breakfast in the lovely room allocated to our party. It was a large choice of items for breakfast, cereals being supplemented with fruit, yoghurts, and honey and maple syrup. A pleasant waiter came to get our order for mains and we had personal attention from the manager.......Black pudding, eggs, bacon, fried bread and similar items were offered plus Salmon and scrambled eggs and Soft boiled eggs with soldiers !!!
We really had a super breakfast and were able to chat with our friends. Then we returned to our rooms to get ready in our finery to attend the wedding.
It was all over in what seemed a short-ish time, the photographs took longer, and we headed to a big room all set up for the wedding breakfast (at 5pm)......The starter came and was consumed, then the main course of Lamb was served followed by a delicious dessert. We had wine and champagne so we were nicely happy-----and ready for cake cutting, speeches and a disco. (Another late night)
Next morning, with it being Saturday, we were able to have an extra hour in bed and came down to the vast display of breakfast buffet. This time I had the Salmon and Scrambled Eggs...
Special thanks to Erica who looked after us.
All too soon it was time to leave for home. - We settled the bill and drove away at 11.30am..
The hotel is lovely with some very nice staff - The desk staff were particularly helpful--
