A lovely afternoon spent walking around Batsford Arboretum with the dog. The garden centre was also very good and we purchased some delicious sandwiches from the cafe.
We would highly recommend a visit.

We visited Batsford during the autumn, when the leaves had turned orange but before they started to fall too heavily. This gave the place an excellent picturesque atmosphere, which sets it out from most parks due to the sheer number and variety of trees. As someone not particularly into plants, it was still a very enjoyable and relaxing afternoon spent here. I imagine it would be the perfect place to bring a dog, or to bring children and let them explore whilst taking a more slow pace along the paths.
The garden centre and café at the end are a welcome way to wind down.

Having recently moved to the area we found out that Batsford is barely a 1O minute drive so decided to check it out. Perhaps a gloomy December afternoon wasn't the best time of the year for a visit, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Very quiet and peaceful for a walk around (I'm sure it gets very busy in the summer) and interesting to see different species of trees and plants. Also nice that dogs are allowed in the gardens(must be kept on a short leash, understandably), as well as inside the visitor centre cafe - our furry friend was very happy! Will be returning in spring or summer when the weather is good and plants are in bloom.
